    I agree.. that announcement says "participant" not "performer". Watching the program now and i see a lot of celebrities simply manning phones or just saying a few words.. i guess it doesn't guarantee that Dave will perform. Haven't seen him yet.

    Only caught the second half, but also thought Dave's voice was pretty rough. Still a great performance with some lyrical embellishments that I hadn't heard before. Love this song.

    Dave happened to follow some unbelievable vocal performances. So hearing him in that context made his vocals sound really forced and strained to me

    Did they have speakers/performers on both east and west coast? Or did I imagine that? If so I find it interesting that Dave was in NYC and not in LA if they had part of the event taped from there

    You people are nuts. That vocal performance was amazing. The vulnerability and control he showed on those high notes was impressive. Great rendition. Also says a lot he got a solo of his own song. Most people are singing in groups and doing covers. Respect.
