We look forward to seeing everyone this summer for an evening with Dave Matthews Band!

As a benefit of Warehouse membership, Warehouse ticket holders qualify for Warehouse First Entry at most venues this summer. To improve this opportunity for Warehouse ticket holders, we are initiating a new policy for Warehouse First Entry to participating venues for 2019.

Approximately 75 minutes prior to Doors, we will distribute sequentially numbered wristbands on a first come, first serve basis at the Warehouse gate to GA Pit ticket holders. We will cease wristband distribution 45 minutes prior to Doors, at which time a Warehouse staff member and a Warehouse member will select a random number. Warehouse members and their guests in possession of GA Pit numbered wristbands will then line up in numerical order starting with the random number chosen.

When Doors open, the line will be walked into the venue in single file in sequential order starting with the selected number all the way to the GA Pit. All guests with Warehouse GA Pit numbered wristbands must be in line 10 minutes prior to Doors or they forfeit their place in the line.

A separate line for First Entry for Warehouse Premium Package and Warehouse Reserved Seat and Lawn ticket holders will be set up next to the GA Pit entry line for members who do not have GA Pit tickets but still wish to enter the venue first.

LINING-UP BEFORE THE WRISTBAND DISTRIBUTION TIME WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.
OVERNIGHT LINES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.

Other important reminders:

Please plan for an 8:00pm start. There is no support act and Dave Matthews Band will not be able to delay the show for latecomers.
Plan for traffic delays close to the venue. Carpooling is highly recommended. Visit the venue website for parking information.
Patrons are encouraged to visit the venue website for information about permitted items. Many venues have implemented a clear bag policy.
Visit the Warehouse Support Center for today’s event information.

Only reason I can see for implementation of this is to keep the nut-jobs from waiting out overnight/all day.

This doesn’t make any sense. Wouldn’t people still just line up for the wristband distribution, even though it says they won’t allow it? Only 1 wristband is being chosen at random, so wouldn’t the person who has wristband #2 still line up in the 2 slot if they go in numerical order after the 1st? Maybe it’s the way this is worded, but unless they did randomization for everyone, it isn’t solving any problem.

It makes perfect sense. Everyone gets a wristband, lets say 1 thru 500. Then they pick a random number, lets say 250. 250 gets in first, then 251, then 252..then 500, then 1, then 2, then 3...

So it doesn't matter how earlier you get there, you're playing the lottery, doesn't matter when you get the wristband, getting their early doesn't help

Right but then that eliminates the whole purpose of this. If every group is gonna be split up everyone is just gonna shuffle around down there anyway, or two people up front will be trying to squeeze their friends in with them. This just creates problems.

All they're trying to do is eliminate the liability of people being on their property for 12+ hours before the show even starts. Once people are on the floor it's a free-for-all regardless.

They actually did this same thing in the late 90s with initial box office on-sales, to cut down on people waiting / camping overnight. Been done for beer releases too. Its actually a really good system.

I love this actually. The people that were getting there and writing numbers on people's hands to tell them where they could be in line was ludicrous. Finally might get rid of the entitled railbirds.

what if you're with three friends and you get #98, and the others get 95-97. Then when they do the random number selection, 98 is drawn.

They've just created another queue. People are going to line up to get a number...it's just human nature. I don't see how they are going to prohibit people from lining up. It's so stupid. (unless I don't understand what they're doing)

My take is there's going to be the line that's always there. WH is going to stroll up sometime around 5:30pm and hand out numbers to people in the line that's already formed. (and what are they going to do when they run out of numbers to hand out?) Then people will be free to move around and then at gate time line-up according to their number. Will the WH check numbers at the gate when they are scanning people in? Heck no.

Like I said, they're going to screw this up just like everything else.

Why would they run out of numbers to hand out? They know exactly how many Warehouse pit tickets were sold.

It happened in Mexico on N3. They handed out around 400 wristbands and the number picked was...#2. So #2 got in first, and #1 was last. Realistically, #2 saved a spot for #1 though.

The way this is worded, though, it indicates "Warehouse members and their guests," so it should avoid the issue.

Well, this certainly is a disincentive to get wrist band #1. There's no chance you're going to end up being first. So I guess if they're hoping for no one to line up early for wristbands, that may actually work.


But it's overly convoluted and seemingly unnecessary. Are the pit lines before gates really getting that out of control? I haven't done PIT (outside of the Gorge) since 2015, but I can't imagine it's gotten entirely bad enough to require something like this.

Yep, you're probably right and I could definitely see it going that way. It'll probably be somewhat hard at most venues to keep order in the line that results from the "magic number" that's drawn, unless the employees have, like, electric cattle prods or something ()

there's literally no incentive to line up to get a number when the first in line is chosen randomly.

Springsteen has been doing this for years and it's a great system. I get that people want to stick to the traditional way of the earlier you show up, the better your spot is, but this makes it fair for everyone and now there are no entire days spent sitting in line in the sun where you're exhausted before the show even starts.

Wrong... you're right that there's no incentive to specifically get #1, but if they give out 200 wristbands, everyone has exactly a 1/200 shot of being the first person inside. There's just as much of a chance of them picking #1 as any other number, and if they pick #198 in this example, you'll still be on the rail, as when they get to the highest number, they'll wrap back around to #1.

If the assumption is that the selection is completely random, then sure.

But I'm not convinced it would be random.

hopefully it truly is, any they don't need to call in a licensed auditor to supervise the process to ensure the railbirds aren't getting preferential treatment
