Springsteen has been doing this for years and it's a great system. I get that people want to stick to the traditional way of the earlier you show up, the better your spot is, but this makes it fair for everyone and now there are no entire days spent sitting in line in the sun where you're exhausted before the show even starts.

Wrong... you're right that there's no incentive to specifically get #1, but if they give out 200 wristbands, everyone has exactly a 1/200 shot of being the first person inside. There's just as much of a chance of them picking #1 as any other number, and if they pick #198 in this example, you'll still be on the rail, as when they get to the highest number, they'll wrap back around to #1.
