We aren't campers, rather stay at the Ritz, but Gorge camping is so easy, particularly compared to the driving alternative. And just being away from everything else for a long weekend.
And if you have the money to spend.. just rent an RV!

Have you been there? It’s a completely different experience from literally any other venue in the country.

Gorge has the best lawn in the country while SPAC has the worst lawn in the country, Ballsfest while amazing is equaled by everything at Cave B Winery, scenery goes without saying, three shows instead of two, people are noticeably more welcoming, Saratoga while amazing is edged out by Seattle for me, there are openers, vendors are better and easier to get to, all logistics are easier at the Gorge, SPAC fans are more intense in reserved seating but the crowd I was around N3 at The Gorge was great as well. The only things I can think of where SPAC has an advantage is the balcony and not being as wide which isn't an issue if you put any thought into where you are sitting. Gorge as a venue and especially as a weekend experience is easily better than SPAC which I've been to several times.

SPAC people like to rave about the scenic walk into the venue, I literally have better and more scenic walk every day

    ^ well said.

Especially in the age of no opener dmb shows, having 2 opening bands and a higher likelihood of guests at gorge is another clear advantage.

I think Cscottrun was specifically referring to the crowd at each venue.
SPAC and Alpine are widely considered the “loudest crowds” and the Gorge not so much.
Now the entire experience, sure that’s open for debate and subjective.

The thing which sets gorge apart for me, is when you’re there you feel like you’re at a show the entire weekend. There no detachment like going back to a hotel room in Saratoga and spending the afternoon popping around the town. Sure you can camp, but it’s just your group still. Gorge is a more collective thing start to finish. The feeling of the dmb community is unmatched there. All I could think of after I left is how I wish every venue had a scene like that.

I unfortunately had to take a pee break during LIOG last year at the Gorge, while walking through reserved seating everyone I saw couldn't be more into the show. Of course SPAC is going to be louder, it has a roof. Also if you look at the crowd overall including lawn and everything the percentage of people who are true DMB fans vs drunk high schoolers is infinitely greater at the Gorge for obvious reasons, I'll take being next to the guy I met who drove 35 hours from Canada and knew things like Light Lift Me Up over a drunk girl screaming at loud noises. I like the intensity of SPAC, but there's a lot of people just there to be there.

Inside at SPAC is literally the hardest ticket of the tour each and every year. It’s made up of mostly die hard fans. Now the Lawn, that’s another story

Yeah, the Gorge maintains the die hard fan percentage throughout the entire venue while SPAC gets half. I love SPAC and hope to get to both places next year, I'm not crapping all over SPAC (I will with Mansfield) it's just that I find nearly everything better at the Gorge.

That’s a negative in a way for SPAC, too. The amount of leg work needed to get seats both nights if you don’t get lucky is insane, especially with lawn not being an option whatsoever.

I refuse to pay over face.

I get all of that.... I just think ppl are arguing two different things.

Overall experience (camping in that setting next to the Gorge w all the fans, ease of tickets, etc) versus actual show experience for 2.5 hours when it’s dark and there is no more “view of the landscape” are two vastly different things.

The Southeast (not counting Florida because you guys are your own deal) needs a two-night stand, whether it be Atlanta, Charlotte, Charlottesville next year.

Sick comeback and objectively false. Ameris Bank Amp where they just played is incredible. It's not like SPAC or other major venues but the venue itself is top notch and in a great area.
