I avoid the sun like the plague.

Buy a $50 ezup at Walmart and donate it after the weekend.

or find other people with shade and make friends.

We create a big "shanty" town with all the canopies and it's nice and shady.

I have camped every year flying in from the midwest. As long as you can pitch a tent, the rest is like a big tailgate. There are tons of food trucks available so you don't need to cook or anything.

8 miles down river from the amphitheater is Crescent Bar. But it is ~30 minute drive to the venue (because the roads take you far inland before crossing over that 8 mile distance and then bringing you back towards the river.

We were able to see the lights at the venue from the balcony of our AirBnB, but took a bit to actually drive there.

Gorgeous place to stay though. Right on the water. We rented Kayaks 2 days and just paddling out and lounging in the valley cut by the river was incredible.

Yup! We walked down to the main road from Sunserra and just picked them up and the docks (we had reserved them a week prior). Was maybe a 5 minute walk from the AirBnB. Some photos attached of the area

Who says it's bad? Gorge lawn is pretty much universally praised as a great lawn.

It's the only lawn I'm willing to sit on.

As Cheryl pointed out above, there's plenty of shade to be had while camping. The venue is where you're going to get blasted by the sun. If that's an issue for you, I would recommend getting a reserved seat so you can don't have to get into the venue too early and sit in the lawn in the direct sun (it is suuuuuuper face fucky at Gorge) holding your spot.

What would you say is the latest you can get into the venue and still get a "good" lawn spot?

    A good lawn spot?

The best lawn spots, on the terrace, people LINE up early for and spring to get.

With the openers you have to be there early.

The lawn is huge, you can find a spot anytime. It might not be good though.

I'm guessing the terrace is the area below the walkway but above seated? The "first tier" of the lawn, so to speak?

Sorry, I'm just going off of photos from Google--trying to piece things together!

Yea, the big rock step things. That's the best lawn real estate. You will need to line up early, before gates open, and have a Warehouse ticket, to get a spot there.

You can get an "okay" spot off to the side going in within an hour of gates.

Sorry if this has been asked, if I stay in Oasis or the other camp grounds do I need to bring food for Breakfast/lunch/diner or is it readily available from the food trucks? Coming from South Florida so the less I have to bring/worry about getting the better.

You could definitely get by just on food vendors there, but it might be helpful to grab some snack stuff on the way out just to have it.

Yes, center of the main campground.

You can also get food in the venue for afternoon/evening meals, or late night food on the way out.

And sometimes there are random campers that will sell you food as well.

I remember thinking the venue had surprisingly good vendor options and rates, far better than most other venues

No doubt. It's gotten a ton better over the past 5-6 years. There's still some garbage in there but the variety has gotten better with some partnerships like Beecher's and some other third party vendors. They were also smart to start selling food after the show lets out. We more often than not eat dinner in the venue now and maybe another bite on the way back to the campground as the lines aren't usually as bad in the venue as they get at the pivot late night.

It's unbelievable to me as an east coast concert goer how much food the Gorge offers inside the venue. I've been to amphitheaters all up and down the coast but the Gorge by far is the best place I've ever been for food inside. BBQ, Asian, sandwiches, dessert, etc... it has it all. And I agree, it's a great option for post show food before the walk back to the campsite.

I literally took a quick nap on the lawn after N3 because I was so exhausted from the weekend, because they don't make you leave ASAP, then walked out to the concourse and was surprised most everything was still open.

No good answer to that... best time to buy is when it hits a number you're comfortable with. Coming from the opposite diagonal of the country probably isn't ever going to get very cheap.

Fly Southwest if you can. Two free bags (will save you $50-70 each way if you're camping) and you can get credit back for price changes if you notice them.

I was tracking to Portland on Google flights and the prices went up almost $150 with the tour announcement. May have just been a coincidence but it's a holiday weekend regardless. I noticed flying out on Wednesday was a good amount cheaper than Thursday from Central Illinois.

That was absolutely a coincidence. There are lots of locals that can just drive to the Gorge plus people flying from all over the country. A small handful of people potentially taking each specific flight won't affect prices.

If I have a 24 foot RV, is it overkill if I try for a gold spot compared to a premier spot space? I really don't need that much space

    Are gold spots bigger?

Personally, I don't really get why anyone would rather camp in gold than premiere.
