I think we are going to camp at Closeby Campground this year. Anyone stayed there? How's the walk and/or shuttle?

idk thats a far drive, my car has tons of miles and my parents dont really want me driving my car far distances...so idk i can keep that option open though..thanks for the offer much appreciated!!!

For those who have been to both, which campground is better for DC; Sleepybear or Deadcreek, are they basically the same minus the distance?

Sweet. Though I feel like after having done Alpine lawn a few years, I can handle anything. Looks like its flatter, but Im tall so I dont mind haha. I was more curious about the obnoxious highschooler factor.

I have not been to both so you may just skip over this but I really enjoyed Dead Creek. Love that it's walking distance, but it's RIGHT next to a sub division so that's not all that exciting. They also sell food, which is nice, and though they packed people in, I thought we had plenty of room.

Kyle usually gives us great info on the venue camp grounds, and it kind of looks like they may have some campground deal through the WH. I don't think the venue grounds fill up but they can be stricter with rules since the couch fire of '09....
I'm sure Kyle will make a post with venue camping info, times the lots open etc when it gets closer to the shows?

lawn is perfect, great sight lines and perfect sound. You can run into some D-bags and drunk teens but nothing out of the ordinary!

I'd say that Friday usually doesn't sell out til a week or two prior to the show and you can usually get pavillons from the public onsale if you are quicker. Saturday is really hard to get pavillions and I'd say if you are a 1st year WH'er it might not be worth joining just for Saturday pavillions. I THINK they way they do WH now is everyone has equal shot of getting pavillion so if you ask for pavillion you could get them, but, being a new member you'd be at the back more than likely. Pit could be a different story though...

There is definitely a high school factor but it's no worse than anywhere else and the set up is decent, with good sound. I think it's worth it for a night!

It's fine but they are much more strict on rules since 2009. We moved to Dead Creek in 2010 and are likely doing Closeby this year.
