This.
But actually, I would have been so pissed at the drs office for making me wait an hour that I probably would have been so busy rehearsing the snarky speech in my head that I’d say to the doctor for making me wait so long, all the while knowing I’d never actually say it out loud, that I never would have noticed anyone else.
If I saw a Nazi symbol on a book, I’d try to see the title and Google it.
If it was a history novel, I wouldn’t think twice about there being symbols like that on a book about WW2.
If someone had a naxi tshirt or tattoo, or was reading Mein Kampf, I’d have a different answer or opinion on who was right / wrong in Jamie’s scenario.
But, no. I still would not confront because I am not going to get into a fight with a male neo-Nazi. It’s not safe, even though some in here think we should get in their face. If we all just used words, sure. But I don’t go out of my way to confront an unstable person that could cause harm to me.
Agreed that the simple answer would be “oh, I’m sorry. I’m such a history nerd that I didn’t even think about the cover of the book. It’s about (and explain the plot).” But I tend to think of how I should have responded long after I actually respond to something that catches me off guard.
