I love the "This band is fucked" comments lol. Most of it is sarcasm but i laugh at it anyways. The band already has accomplished so much that they could not be innovative for another second of their existence and they still would be at the top.

I think we should all be grateful that they are still doing what they are doing. Their actual performance/energy in the last 7 years hasn't changed. They haven't slowed down on stage. They still jam the fuck out so if they don't make huge changes going forward, fuck it i'm still on board.

I am looking forward to new music however i'm content with the massive library of songs I have already.

you might be taking others opinions a little more seriously than necessary, just to be clear.

everyone has their right and we are all DMB heads so if one feels that a topic is worthy of discussion, theres no telling who is right or wrong.

its nice to see that a band after almost 30 years can be innovative and make new music. sure we'd all like to see it, but i'm in no way going to crucify them for not being as productive as they were in the early-mid 90's.

We are on borrowed time. I said this 6 years ago and yet they are still going pretty strong from a performance stand point. Its only a matter of time until we see some declines in actual live performance (not song choices or surprises)... actual physical performance.

I'm hoping one night when i catch carters stick, his arm will be attached to it

What's a bit concerning to me is that Dave did bust out some songs (Dodo, Help Myself, FTT, LRB) that haven't been played in a while. It's a great thing, but where the hell are these songs and bust outs when its full band. I always thought it was Dave who was holding up the variety variation, but I'm beginning to think now that its someone else.

Stefan has been pretty vocal about how he wants to mix things up.
Carter and Jeff are both, imo, too talented to really worry about or not want to mix things up. Same with Tim and Rashawn.
That leaves one person...

I wouldn't exactly correlate what D+T busts out with what the band doesn't play. Different setting, different tone, and lets face it... there are some songs out there that just aren't suitable (or terrible) as live full band songs. On the flip side i'm sure there are plenty of songs that are not suitable for D+T.

At this point its all speculative. I just hopeful that we can get another 5+ years out of full band performances. SPAC weekend is one of my favorite "vacations" of the year.

Well too be fair, I'm biased against Boyd. I just think he makes the band sound worse with his squeeks and squeels. He just sounds terrible these days. Plus, they turn him down, so as strong as his stage presence is, his sound is sometimes barely noticeable. I've also noticed that he often does not play parts that he used to. One that comes to mind is the plucks at the beginning of Big Eyed Fish. I know at one point he had forgotten all about them.

I can't imagine Boyd is holding them back. They play enough songs without him/where he's on mute anyways.

Maybe Dave just doesn't like how some of the songs sound in the current lineup? Plus with the full band you have to have all pieces mesh, with D&T it's just 2 guys needing to be in sync

Good point. I'd be happy if they just slowed the tempo of the songs down full band. Seems like they place each song faster and faster each year. D&T's tempo was a breathe of fresh air.
