Can Buddy Strong play Violin?

Buddy strong can play keys, drums, guitar, bass, ukulele, and trumpet. What if he could learn violin??? Thoughts??

He uses a violin synthesizer (which doesn't really sound good tbh).

It would take many years to learn violin and be able to play it with the tone and ability that the band needs. I've played violin for many years personally and I don't consider myself to be at the level a professional band requires. If he started now, we may not see the fruits of that labor until 8-12 years in the future.

I know I am in the minority here but I don’t mind the synth violin. To me it’s better than nothing.

My problem with it is that it is better than nothing, but it's worse than most anything they could do. For example, the first solo on Graves is fine, but it would be so much better if it was regular piano, Tim, Jeff, or Rashawn doing it. It always just feels like the worst option. On things like the Stone though, I'm fine with it. It's what they always did anyways, and it feels more like backing. It's just terrible on solos.

This is it. Or just have someone else take the solo. Fake violin is the worst. There are ways to use synths and that ain't it.

To each their own, but yes this is my sentiment as well. I don't mind it as much if it's layered into the music. The Stone is a great example of that. It's blended in and doesn't sound distracting.

But it really doesn't sound good to me when it's featured in a solo or doing the intro riff on Pig for instance or like you said, get's the entire LIOG solo.. It sounds cheesy and fake.

I agree Buddy should play straight keys there. I think it would sound jazzy and different.
