Get to take vacation to the Grenadier Range on Thursday. We are climbing Vestal and Arrow peaks (the two shown in the picture). The climb is a class 4+ climb-should be a good time. Anyone been to the Grenadier Range?

I would have loved to hear him.

I don't climb but read a lot and follow expeditions online.

Did he have a slide show?

Slides and video clips. He is one-of-a-kind. Like I said, very inspiring.

He is amazing. The footage of him 'running' up the Eiger is ridiculous.

Im going to do some climbing outside of Granada on Friday, first time in a while and I'm excited. Done a lot of hiking but not much climbing. Supposed to be some world class climbing around here so excited to give it a try. Been watching a lot of climbing documentaries lately.

    Anyone else been outdoors/hiking/climbing recently?

was back up in the adirondacks last weekend, planned on doing a 15 mile hike to one of the most remote lakes in the park but it was a washout that am and we never went out.

did some wild camp cookin' though, and heard some kind of animal Friday night but have abso-fucking-lutely no idea what it was. Closest thing I can compare it to was an owl's hoo but it didn't sound like any owl I've ever heard. Gave us a pretty good scare at 2am, that's for sure.

Seen some pictures of the adirondacks and looks gorgeous. Seems like autumn is the best time. Someday.

It is absolutely beautiful. Truly more beautiful than a lot of national parks. Huge swaths of it are completely untouched, leaving it as pristine and serene and wonderful as ever. Definitely should be on the "must visit" list for anybody in this thread (although there's not TOO much in the way of climbing or real elevation hiking).

I did some top rope rock climbing on Sunday, actually. I'm outdoors or hiking 3 or 4 times a week.

This is actually pretty crazy. I was thinking about making a rock climbing thread and opened Ants to search if such a thing existed and this thread was topped. Nice

I just so happened to be in Ticonderoga Thursday/Friday on a work "field trip". We went to the paper mill up there and took a tour of the mill. They also took us on a woodlands tour of the now defunct town of Graphite. Really cool couple of days. I don't hike as much as I'd like to, but I try to take my dog to the state park every couple days. I absolutely love hiking and would hike every day, or at least every weekend, if the mountains weren't two hours away. I want to get more into it though. My buddy does some pretty hardcore hiking and camping which is what I want to start getting more involved with. But I need more equipment and more time to devote to it.

NICE! When I was up camping two weekends ago I woke up before my buddy and I was actually looking at the Ticonderoga area on some maps. Looking for some good hiking places for next year. I haven't been up that way in some time. What kind of gear are you looking for/don't have? Maybe next year we can get an ants ADK camping trip. It'll probably just be you and me

Crazy how weather changes So drastically. Two weeks ago I it was 33 overnight, this weekend it's in the 90's.

So glad I got the cold weekend. I'd much rather be in the cold than hot and sweating profusely.

Heading up to Baxter State Park Sunday and staying at Chimney pond campground.
I bought a winter weight sleeping bag because I thought I'd need it this time of the year but the extended forecast looks like I didn't have to (54 degrees at night)

Nice man, I'm jealous, with work and life I usually only get one hike a week. Have you done much climbing before? I'm excited but a bit nervous because I haven't climbed with ropes in a few years.

I've been climbing pretty hard for the past month. My school has an indoor faux rock wall and there is a climbing gym near my work.

You just gotta trust the rope and your belayer.

Sunday we will be hiking up to our base camp/lean-to at Chimney pond

Nice! I love it up there.
Last year we climbed Mt Adams and did a side trip to the 4th Connecticut lake
to see the start of the CT river. That wasn't all that exciting, but I always wanted to see it.

Very nice. I love reflection shots like that. I take a lot of them in the mountains up here in WA. The water on those mountain lakes can get so still if there's no wind.

You're in CO right? Is this in the rockies?

You're in CO right? Is this in the rockies?
Yeah, that was a little outside of Breckenridge. It was completely still like you said. But, as you can see, still snow on that north face, even in September.

Went climbing this morning, I'm hooked. Legs and arms are aching. Gonna start with buying some climbing shoes...any recommendations? Planning a trip to El Chorro before the end of the year. Any good climbing documentaries? Seen and loved Valley Uprising.
