Re: In need of some golf tips...

Thanks all! It is pretty cool seeing all the social media stuff.

Their home course in 1912 Club but they do get to play some really cool places.

Back into lessons today and ended up in the K-vest. My stick figure driver swing is hilariously bad.

Walked 9 yesterday afternoon. Was maybe 5 over. I was just happy it was over 50 degrees.

Didn't get out this weekend. May have been the last chance of the season. Pretty bummed. To make matters worse, one of my buddies had an ace.

Shot a 45/48 in like 30-40 mph winds on Friday afternoon with highs of 43, all things considered I was happy with how I played, could not hit the ball straight in that wind and only had 23 putts so my short game was en fuego. The wind was doing some truly wicked things to my tee shots.

Officially old enough that the cold bothers me. It’s 35 and sunny and I have no urge to walk 9.

It is cool driving past the course everyday and watching the fairways go dormant.

Just booked a round at Torrey (North) for the Tuesday post-Christmas. Hate having to pay the advanced booking fee, but taking advantage of the week off and playing it for only the second time. Need to get some rounds in before I head out.

We’re playing 27 on Saturday. High is 42. Thank god well drinks are included in the buy in.

Supposed to be 52 late next week. Definitely going to steal a December golf day one if that doesn’t change.

Got out today and shot an 86. Pretty happy with that given it never got as warm as they said it would and conditions weren't the best.

CPO had some Toulon’s for under $250 earlier if anyone is in the putter market.

No surprise, but not a lot of good golf deals out there that I have seen.

PXG selling their 0211 irons for $75 each, even the relatively new ST forged model. I love mine, was glad to get them for $149 each after the initial launch at $199. May buy a new set to leave in Orlando where I play most of my golf.

That Cameron is nice thing to flip. The insert doesn’t have a place in a Cameron, IMO.

I had a Bettinardi store credit from this summer when the sold me a Miller Lite item but were already sold out. Bought this. Don’t have the game to wear it. Not sure if there is a market to flip it or not.

    TS,

I’d try and borrow a range finder before committing to a big purchase like that. Everyone’s process is different, but I find yardage to the front on a GPS to be the best number for me to work off of.

Range finder is super useful when laying up, picking lines off the tee.

2022 membership rates at the munis we play got published today. Yikes.

County course went from 800 to 900 per year + carts and a daily $3 service fee and you cannot use it until after 2PM on weekend and holidays between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

City course membership price doubled from $39 to $78, and they haven’t said what discounts that gets you.

    Shrink the game.

I hadn't seen this somehow, anyway I'm asking for it for Christmas so free to me, I think it'll be helpful for the reasons you pointed out. Also the place where I'm a member, practice facility not a CC, has a grass tee area and they are constantly changing where you hit from. I know how far I hit each shot with each club but if I already have a rangefinder in my bag I'd like to at least get a number for one of the flags to work off of.

Have been practicing short game off a mat lately at a different place with a roof and heaters, something I should have been doing last winter

That county course sounds like a great deal. Is the course any good? The absolute cheapest option I have is just below 6K and the course isn't worth it. Looking forward to interest in the game waning.

Get those Johnny come latelys out of the game. More tee times for the rest of us. #shrinkthegame.

Weather looks good for the weekend. Heading out Sunday.

The county course is fine. It’s where we play almost every Sunday. Some dumb holes and bad bunker conditions. They typically do a Buy 5 for the price of 4 special all year which is what we do anyways. Haven’t seen that published yet which is worrisome.

The $6000 dollar number hurts my head. That’s very nice Country Club money here. Not going to get you into one of the Ross designed clubs across the river.

I think I suck at golf again now that I'm not playing close to regularly. Brutal range session on Saturday. I won't get more time at the range any time soon, but hoping to play a few more times in December around the holidays and maybe I'll surprise myself. Next lesson is in mid January.
