Because those "Patriots" know that the majority of their party likes trump and will be mad if he isn't president. They then won't vote for other members of their party.

Yeah I feel like some are just looking at this piece is far too small of a scope.

Everything is done with the big picture in mind.

Not surprising this pops up almost exactly 2 months before midterms. If this has been such an issue it wouldnt have taken 2 years into his presidency to come out.

And again, lets not forget, this is anonymous.

Do you think his base will see the letter as anything but fake news?

Exactly all of this. We've been hearing this for a while about how people within the administration were "containing" him so this is nothing new other than supposedly this is from the mouth of someone there. His supporters won't believe it or like him say it's treasonous. The rest of the GOP will be like well we've got power now let's do what we can. This doesn't move the needle at all.

So it sounds like the GOP is trying to retcon this as the files were already cleared for release, and whether Booker knew or not, they can spin it and change the entire subject away from the actual story and create a new story: Booker is a drama queen. And then just pound that narrative, instead of talking about the actual issues he was raising in the first place.
