Can't wait to hear '98 Tim on this, and Roi. Keep gimmie more Roi, I don't care if it's another '07 or '05 since it'll have more Roi.

I just bought the .mp3 download and I had no trouble downloading or unzipping the files. (Albeit it's 1:23 am EST)

I'm about to listen to it now.

Well, it didn’t take long for my first frustration. Why would they include the heartbeat intro at the end of seek up rather than beginning of PNP? I really hate when they do that with the segues.

Really clean I think. Dave's guitar sounds nice, Tim's guitar sounds smooth throughout.

Carter doesn't sound muddled. I'm a big fan of being able to hear every instrument, not into the crazy dynamic range nonsense and all that...and this release delivers on that front.

At first listen it sounds nice, much better than the DMBLive from Philly 11/30/98.

***That being said, I don't think it sounds as good as Live Trax 39 or Live in Chicago.

For one thing, if you're not listening to the album straight through, then the heartbeat intro would be out of place. Additionally, if songs are on shuffle, you have an intro leading into the wrong song.

Sometimes I don’t want to listen to 18 minutes of seek up to get to the heartbeat Intro, that’s all.

I have listened to whole album this afternoon as, for a first listening, I was impressed from the sound quality.
I mean, it is a ‘98 recording, but it sounds almost like a 2018 LT. the mixing engineers have done a great job here. Everything is at the right place, and Carter in the middle of all, but can distinguish clearly every little piece of his drums. Amazing. Also sax is very clear on the right channel, and LeRoy was quite inspired that night. His jam on Seek Up in notable, long, deep, a bit jazzy, I love it.
The listening goes on smoothly, at that time it was hard to find a “skippable” song.
2 hours really fly away, it is a great listening.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Not an expert on mixing, but best I can come up with is that it highlights the things you'd want (Dave guitar, Carter, Roi) and appropriately has in background anything that doesn't deserve/need the spotlight.

    Really enjoyable LT offering.

Listened to it twice now at work, it really flies by. Then again this set has no duds. Not sure where it ranks on the all-time list, but it's a solid, solid offering. No one should have any complaints here.

Besides the dumb Heartbeat Intro at the end of Seek Up of course -- but that's a flaming hot Seek Up so I don't mind listening to it.

Yeah it’s weird. And I don’t know what’s going on with Dave’s mic during Rapunzel, it almost completely cuts out at one point during the second verse. His voice is pretty low during the entire release.

That’s weird.. because I do like the fading of Seek Up into Heartbeat. I find it cool and emotional

Live Trax Vol. 53: Boise State University Pavilion (11/2/98)

I haven’t noticed that on my first listening (the cut in Rapunzel).

    About the volume of Dave:
With all my headsets (Airpods/Sennheiser HD660S) I could hear Dave voice pretty clear though.
I will keep more attention on the next listening.

I'm on my 3rd listen and I'm really digging this release. Solid mix, great song selection / flow which makes it fly by when listening, and a lot of very strong performances. (This version of "I'll Back You Up" is up there with the all-timers, for example. Just beautiful!)

    My standouts so far...

    Seek Up >
    Heartbeat >
    PNP > Rapunzel
    Crash
    DDTW
    Minarets
    Two Step
Tripping Billies (this version is smokin'!)
I'll Back You Up (again, absolutely stunning)
Too Much (excellent; this one's going to get a lot of plays from me)

P.S. (In Too Much, I love how Dave sings the "I told God..." part. Goosebumps!!)

I had to remove it from my mix. The setlist is great and flows nicely, Leroi's contributions are amazing, but the audio quality is one of the worst live trax I have purchased. No way this cracks a top 20 for me, setlist yes, musicians yes, quality no.

I'm not really sure where this hate on the audio quality of this release is coming from, but maybe people listen for different things than I do. I honestly have no idea.
