Re: Favorite beer of choice?

Monk is pretty readily available around here - I remember when I had it previously it reminded me of like cranberry 7-up (obviously not exactly), and believe me I enjoyed it, but it was way more sweet than I expected.

Not too much of a glassware guy thankfully.

I pretty much use the same few glasses for every beer I drink.

for a while I was on a huge taster/mini-snifter kick....and I still love them, but man I probably have 75-100 of them. I question my life choices.

Local bar had a Founders night on Wednesday. Got a snifter of CBS ($9) and '17 KBS. Was pretty happy with the price of CBS - basically $ for $ in terms of what the bottles cost.

Buddy of mine picked me up a CBS earlier in the week as well, so I'll have that for Christmas.

I just don't have the room for all my glasses in the cupboard haha. So if I ever get anything new, it'll just be stemware. I have too many tumblers to count

Hoping we get this nice liquor cabinet we had on our wedding registry to free up space in the cupboard.

I really wasn't a fan. Bought one back in May when I was in Virginia. I'll have to try it again someday, but just thought it was too much.

Love that we're now getting everything Cigar City here. Started seeing Maduro, Tocobago and Guayabara everywhere, and we got Good Gourd the other month. Such an excellent brewery.

Yeah really is. I always kick myself for not going more when I lived in Tampa.

Went to Revolution yesterday for the VSOD release.... and left with zero take home beer. Trying to hoard less, and just go enjoy beers more. This past year or two I have certainly stressed less about beer, and had a better mindset of "Ill get what I get, taste what I can, and just enjoy beer with friends" rather than trying to track down every bottle. Even CBS, which I was gonna hoard, I ended up with 5 bottles but found out a work buddy struck out so flipping one his way instead. Feels good! Well see how long it lasts before Im buying a case of something again

Well, I bought a CBS the other day. I'm saving it for Christmas. I hope it lives up to the hype.

I had never had it...and I think kbs is overhyped/rather average. CBS was awesome. Let it warm a bit...much better flavor.

Headed to Chicago tomorrow...any recommendations on where to grab some good beers? Hoping to grab a bcbs somewhere on draft...but that is not overly important. Staying in east lakeview...but will be venturing all over.

So like out of the fridge for twenty minutes before pouring or what?

I've been seeing these Lidl grocery stores popping up and then their commercials on TV. I decided to go in one today. Trash grocery store, imo, but they had a store branded coconut imperial stout bomber that was $4.99. Shit, for that price and abv(10%) I've got to try it.

I opened it thirty minutes ago. Almond. Joy. Candy. Bar. Holy crap. Mind blown. I'm going back tomorrow and gonna get two more plus their regular imperial stout and coffee imperial stout.

Yes...to be honest I opened it with my new Luther college vinyl. Was so mezmwrized by the album that didn’t crack until first side change. Then I read a beer review about the Beer and said “that makes a ton of sense”.

Half Acre has some great stuff - I always like to recommend them. Their tap room is small, but cool...up in North Center-ish neighborhood. If you dont go there, Half Acre are still on tap quite a bit around the city.

There's also a new restaurant in Lincoln Park called Hop Cat thats pretty awesome. They're a "chain" but only have a few locations in the midwest. They started in Michigan I think. But very good bar food, and over 100 beers on tap, including a specific list of about 20-30 local brews. So a very good place to try many different brews.

Thanks! I am a west Michigander...so I am a hopcat enthusiast. I typically hit up Kumas on Belmont...never been to Half Acre. May have to try that.

ah, nice! So you already know all about Hopcat haha.

Yea Kumas is a great burger...love Kumas. IF you're looking to try something different, give Bad Apple a try. Conveniently located very close to the Half Acre tap room, they have a very nice beer list, and an awesome burger. Maybe even better than Kumas. Its close haha

3 new IPAS coming my way this week:

    Tilted Barn - Cactus
    Aslin - DDH Sensei
    Trillium - Pittsburgh Street

First time having anything from Tilted Barn, so I guess I'm most excited about that one.
