The official I am NOT looking a setlist before Charlottesville support group thread

I haven't looked at a setlist since August. Other than getting a spoiler on the front page of Ants already, I am swearing off any fall tour setlists, even MSG, before C-ville. I think I saw a spoiler in September about Seek Up being played, too, though.

I will not be able to predict anything at either N1 or N2.

I can do this . . . really.

I support this support group, because I too am swearing off setlists until Cville!!! I even went as far as to delete almanac off my favorites at work...if only I could somehow block it from myself!!

You just about can't get on Ants period.

I have slowly weaned myself from setlists generally (until after my shows). But nothing to this extreme.

You honestly have a better time.

I looked at them all summer. This is going to be tough. Considering I already want to know what they played the first two shows. I think you're definitely right though, I will have a much better time. It's so tough though when I am itchin for a break at work the first thing I wanna do is look it up!

A whopping three of us, eh?

I don't know about the rest of you, but my non-dmb-addicted friends have taken to looking to me at shows to call the next song. Or guess based on guitar. It was a cute party trick for awhile. But when I have truly tried to ignore setlists a few weeks before shows, I have a much better time. No expectations.

Now, that said, I knew Camden N2 this year had potential because I went N1.

Attendance doesn't count against you! Have a blast! Been to both Camden shows the past two years (I have a good friend who lives right near the venue and is a fan).

if you looked at sets prior to august then i i don't think there is much value in doing this.....i didn't look at sets from july until after my Gorge shows and it just wasn't really worth it......the fall tour won't be much different from the summer so you might as well see what's going on....but good luck in what you are trying to do

I'll keep looking, but that's because I know that the group of people I'm going with will make the experience fantastic, regardless of what is (and is not) played.

I haven't looked, but I've seen the bitching threads so I know BW is still getting a lot of play. I happen to love SMLAM and Seven (gasp . . . I said it! I like that song).

I am desperately trying not to have high hopes for N2 in C-ville, but it is hard not to build up some expectation of a few rare tunes.

I am focusing on getting a weekend away with hubby-- we met in Cville 15 years ago. The weekend is more about us going back there, and the concerts are just icing (if I say that enough times, will I truly, truly believe it and not give two shits what they play, but just enjoy the moment?).

That is just mean! I. Will. Not. Go. Look. Actually, I know I won't hear the one song I really want, so that actually has made this easier (JTR). Last Stop and Halloween aren't high on my list of favorites, either. It is a wonder I haven't been banned from ants for admitting such things . . .

I had a very close friend get a true "backstage pass" to the Philly show. Her husband's partner is good friends with the band's sound engineer via a woodworking hobby (among other things). She got to listen to the show IEM, sent me a text picture standing next to Carter's drums, and told me one song that they played while texting me a good portion of the concert. She didn't actually meet the band, but I am not sure I would still be able to speak to her if she did. I looked at the first three songs on that setlist b/c she had question.

She also spent the whole night shaking her head that she, the casual fan, had no right to be there given my obsession. She had a blast though and really enjoyed seeing how it all comes together backstage.

Yes! Dave was singing the Cardigans' Lovefool as he walked on stage. He and Carter made fun of WaWa all night. And they talked about how Roi loved Philly.

She said the wisecracking was the highlight of the show.

Thanks to me, it wasn't her first dmb concert.

Philly is an awesome place.. thats where I grew up.. but anyway I came here to tell you I admire you very much Kristin. I'm not trying to bash fans when I say it sickens me how addicted they become but it is truly a better experience when everything at the show surprises you. People dont like Watchtower anymore because they see it close so many shows that they dont even attend.. It puzzles me.. honestly

I grew up there as well. I left when I was 17 and I haven't been back (to live) for 20 years. I visit my family, but I am now a southerner. You couldn't pay me enough to move back north. I am a devout flyers fan, enjoy a good bagel, cheesesteak, and hoagie, but not enough to live there!

Given what I have read here, I will have a good sense of what to expect because the setlists are similar to the summer. But that's OK. Still not looking.

That said, it will be REALLY hard to not look at tonight's.

I enjoy following setlists too much, plus don't have the willpower, anyway. Setlist watching/bitching is part of the overall DMB experience.

JUst when you think you can predict a show, the unthinkable happens and a curveball is thrown in. Setlists can be liberating, but we will have to wait and see what n2 charlottesville has in store for us!!! Congrats on being able to make it thru!!!

I can't look at the MSG N2 threads-- I almost saw a setlist in doing so. But, a thread entitled can Cville N2 top MSG N2 seems pretty damn sweet from my perspective.

Here's hoping the last night of them all together for at least a year inspires a great show.

    I SO want look. . . .

And like I've said before, I usually do follow setlists some after my shows-- I like the threads that follow real time. The one this summer when the band's real-time setlist was down and a new ant was updating us via an old ant at the show texting the new ant was a lot of fun.

At nearly 30 shows, though, I just don't want to be calling the next song (even if just in my head) at the C-ville shows.

    I SO want look. . . .

And like I've said before, I usually do follow setlists some after my shows-- I like the threads that follow real time. The one this summer when the band's real-time setlist was down and a new ant was updating us via an old ant at the show texting the new ant was a lot of fun.

At nearly 30 shows, though, I just don't want to be calling the next song (even if just in my head) at the C-ville shows.
just curious, but what do you plan on doing before the shows and before the band takes the stage??? There will almost inevitably be some chatter around you regarding the previous setlists and all that... you know, people saying "Man,they played Song X at MSG, I hope we get that here too!"
