I will take SPAC over Gorge any day of the week. I've been to both. Gorge has the views, that's it. The sound inside SPAC is better, the crowd is better, there is a great town, its easier to get to, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the Gorge, but I completely disagree with what you're saying. Gorge literally has one thing-the view.

Gorge crowd was better than the spac crowd for me, and that was 3 nights of lawn vs 2 nights in the pav at spac.

And give me 3 nights with camping on site over 2.

I dont mean to dump on spac but outside of the architecture and town, I didnt particularly enjoy the venue. Nightmare just trying to go take a piss or get a beer and get back to my seat.

I've zoned out during a show at the gorge just staring at that backdrop watching the sun going down.

Idk, I sure as hell would never go back there without seats both nights. but a fuck ton of people flood the vending area and are seemingly cool being super sardined for a half distorted view of the stage, or are far back in the flat area with 0 view of anything.

SPAC balcony is unlike anything else though, so theres good and bad.

Gorge is just so much more relaxed and beautiful, much more my speed.

Totally agree and yes I've been to both. 3 nights is better than 2. Hard to get past that, not even to mention all the other things.

New Orleans doesn't have a great outdoor venue. Jazz Fest is at a track, right? No amphitheater.

Never been to SPAC but I've been to pretty much every other big annual stop. For me Gorge and Deer Creek are 1 and 2 and then a drop off to Alpine and WPB.

In what way? In what way...I'm just curious. Even the Hartford crowd is better than Gorge crowd in my opinion. The crowd at the Gorge was dead last year to me.

Maybe I just got lucky but all three nights seemed like we were surrounded with diehards, good energy, singing along etc. Saturday when it was a little more crowded was the worst of the three.

SPAC crowd in 16 was really good too, but way more younger people there just for a party. People around our seats were good but tailgate was lame both nights where we were.

no one can with any credibility say OVERALL SPAC > Gorge. GTFO....

SPAC is great in a lot of ways. Gorge is great in a lot of ways.

there's no debate one weekend/set of shows/vibe/experience is overwhelmingly better than the other. that doesn't mean both can't be great, and top tier.

Exactly. They are fundamentally different experiences. Gorge as a whole is easily better.

SPAC is still great, but it’s 3rd of the big 3 for me.

    2020 Tour Rumors

Thinking a bit harder about it. I had an amazing time at the gorge last year. Made some great friends. Venue is awesome. From a pure show perspective though, it just felt like it was missing something. Not sure how to describe it. But I’ll say after further evaluation, it is a tie for me.

This year, I’ll be in pit for at least one night and reserves for one night. Perhaps doing lawn all 3 nights last year took a bit away from it for me.

My brother just moved to Portland and thinking about hitting Gorge next year but I don't camp. Just zero interest, so I'll be figuring out the hotel situation (and driving 45 minutes).

How soft are some people they can’t sleep on an air mattress for 3 nights?

It’s not even hot at night.

The ease of camping at the Gorge instead of driving 35 miles, each way, to a hotel, all 3 nights, before and after the show, with cops pulling cars over left and right on I-90, is a no-brainer. We aren't campers, rather stay at the Ritz, but Gorge camping is so easy, particularly compared to the driving alternative. And just being away from everything else for a long weekend.
