Counting Crows / Matchbox 20

Used to kind of like both of them in the 90's, never seen either live, and they are touring together this summer and since no DMB concerts to attend, I'm getting my concert fix by checking them out.

Does anyone know which band hits the stage first? CC open for M20? Alternate nights? I know a few years ago I saw Widespread Panic and Allman Brothers together and one night one would go first, the next night the other would.

Also tickets say show starts at 6:45 (it's a Sunday night), does anyone know what time the bands actually hit the stage?

Thanks in advance!

so i have no idea how it goes this year, but i saw MB20 and Goo Goo Dolls. MB 20 headlined that night, but I'm not sure if they rotated nights throughout the tour. That being said, MB 20 puts on a hell of a show. Really enjoyed myself. Lots of songs to sing along to. Seeing Bent was worth it alone, and any chance to hear the song Mad Season is always worth it, too.

Counting Crows have been playing the shorter set, so my guess is they are first on the bill.

Catching the Raleigh show next week. I think I've seen both these bands with the Goo Goo Dolls in the past. 90's post grunge bands have to stick together lol.

Thanks for the info guys. I've checked out some of the setlists, CC been playing about 14 songs and M20 been playing about 20, so that's logical that Matchbox 20 is headliner.

CC's songs are usually a little longer. Last summer cc and rob thomas toured and cc headlined.

Saw them in Atlanta last Sunday, and Counting crows opened. Maybe I've been spoiled by dmb, but I was not impressed with matchbox 20. They played their songs exactly as they are on their albums with no improvisation or jams. Rob Thomas has a good voice, but I was bored. Just a radio band with 3 to 4 minute songs, nothing else. Left the concert early due to boredom and wanted to beat the crazy Lakewood post concert traffic.

Counting crows was better, and they were better musicians and more jamming, but I got there late. Glad I had ticketmaster vouchers for the show because in my opinion, matchbox 20 isn't worth traveling for.

I saw the first show of their current tour. CC was on stage for 75 minutes. MB20 was on stage for 100 minutes.

Counting Crows was better, but I'm a much bigger CC fan. Matchbox 20 is too one-note for me, but I enjoyed the concert. At least MB20 played all their hits.

To answer your last question, there is a 3rd band as an opener. For the LA show a few weeks ago, ticket time was 6:30. CC were on by around 7:15 or 7:20, played until about 8:50. MB20 went on somewhere around 9:30 or 9:45 (Rob said they were delayed for technical problems) and played until close to 11:30.

Saw them in Rogers and I'm so glad I did. Wasn't impressed with CC. Adam was somewhat weird? May be his thing but it didn't translate well for me. His band is incredible though.

MB20 I've always wanted to see and so glad we went. They were great. They are offering soundboards of the show you went to for $39. I was gonna get it but seeing as they stick pretty much to the album version, I didn't see much of a need. Great show to go see for sure!

Kyle Cook's band is the 6:45 opener by the way.

I'm gonna go to the Hartford show, love the counting crows and never miss an opportunity to see them. I was hoping they'd close but oh well.

I saw the show in Charlotte Sunday night.

Counting Crows hit the stage right around 7:30. Matchbox 20 was on stage around 9:20.

I was pleasantly surprised by both bands. Counting Crows is a bit more chill, so better suited as the opening act, even though I like them a little better. Just glancing through their setlists, it appears they only play Mr. Jones at about 50% of their shows, so I was glad I got it at mine. Matchbox 20 put on more of a rock show, so was good as headliner.

I was surprised by how packed the venue was for a Sunday night for two 90s bands well past their prime (fame wise).

Fun show in Raleigh last night. Thought the guitars could have used a volume boost for MB20 but I was in the lawn. Really nice cover of Don't You Forget About Me in the encore.
