man that was so much fun last night. he was improvising like crazy in the acoustic set, I was in the lawn but I want to say people up front likely persuaded him to change things up by shouting out song names and it worked. awesome stuff.

That is the best looking set start to finish that I have seen all tour. Edge of Desire and Gravity in the encore is a phenomenal 1-2 punch.

I am going to see one of John Mayer's influences on his career tonight. The legendary Buddy Guy! I can't wait for some blues!

I don't think I really "got" Edge of Desire until seeing it live. I think it's mainly that I didn't care for the production of it on Battle Studies. Seeing him actually play that riff and having it more at the forefront really illuminates how great of a guitar part it is.

I saw an instagram video where John compared Edge of Desire (guitar part) to Satellite. Being sort of a finger exercise riff.

I hated Edge of Desire until I saw him use it in an encore in 2010 with an accompanying video. Not a top 20 song, but I like it.

Edge of Desire is a top 5 song for me. Lyrically I think it is one of his best with arguably one of his most interesting riffs as well.

As far as riffs go, my favorite are in no order:

    Edge of Desire
    Neon
    Why Georgia
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
    St. Patrick's Day

When good audio or video surfaces from the Raleigh show last night, make sure to check out Sharkey's solo on "If I Ever Get Around To Living." I've been to a lot of concerts and that was up there in terms of musical moments I've witnessed. In the moment, it was just a magical effort. John was great all night, but there was something special going on during that solo.

Knowing how to play the latter while trying to learn the former I would agree.

    Pretty great interview.
He also did a 60-minute total podcast (that 30 minutes plus another 30 minutes that wasn't aired) that I linked a page or two back too.

You a fan of one of those teams? I would just go ahead and assume Bama is going to win, DVR the game in case the opposite occurs, and go to the show, which cannot be DVR'ed.

Easily my favorite JM song...probably his best lyrics overall, as well, IMO.
