Going out to Disney for a few days in January. I haven't been since probably 2004 and I cannot wait to see how much has changed. Plus I have been dreaming of drinking my way through Epcot for years now, it is finally happening.

Luckily my parents are taking care of Isla's pass because grandparents doing grandparent things. We're getting one silver pass and one gold, just for the photo pass. We have no plans to go over the summer because of the heat.

I'm not sure the crime and violence is worth it. Better just to fly in and go to the parks.

unless you plan on living in Pine Hills there's very little crime here - relatively speaking. It's not as bad as that shithole Tampa

Love Tampa...I guess I am in the good area though.

Also love free Disney....go once a month. Nice that my dad decided he wanted a part time job there in this retirement. He works a couple days a month and gets us in 15 times a year. Also keeps that benefit I guess once he hits 10 years (year and a half away).

Going to grab a Universal annual pass when baby gets a bit older.

Have we heard if people who are there if they are getting some type of refund for Sunday and Monday? I saw Royal Caribbean was giving a lot of refunds and discounts for all the cruises that have been changed because of it.

Well in a series of events, we were able to move our trip to October 13th. Unfortunately, all of our "go-to" restaurants are full and have no dining reservations available. Any suggestions for some hidden gems? Planning to eat at a couple lounges need be. We've been to Territory Lounge and Tambu Lounge before and have been big fans so that's always a fall back option.

Anyone been to the new place at Wilderness? The outdoor seating one?

Keep checking for reservations at the restaurants you guys really like. They pop up all the time. Especially as you get closer to the date. One under the radar restaurant we like is Olivia's at Old Key West. We like the atmosphere there and the food is great.

Looking to go to Universal next year for Spring Break. My daughter is really into Harry Potter and apparently turning 11 is something significant.

Any tips? I've never been, but have gone to Disney before.

I swear I put a detailed Potter strategy in here somewhere....

Short version is stay on Universal Property to get early access.
Need a 2 park pass to ride the Hogwarts Express.

Make sure you check the crowd calendar, that thing is legit. We went on a green day (low activity) and it was dead, no lines for anything. Rode Kong 3X in like 20 min, Jurassic Park the same. We got a 2 for the price of 1 ticket so we came back the next day (red on the calendar), busy as hell. We didn't stay on property and had no issues on any of the HP rides day 1, longest wait as maybe 15 min.

As with Disney, study the map and make a plan of attack, that way you aren't backtracking/wasting time. We came in on the Universal Studios side and worked our way to Islands of Adventure.

That is going to make it even more special for your daughter. In the books, the kids get their Hogwarts letters when they turn 11. You should look into it and make a little Hogwarts acceptance letter for her and do that to let her know you guys are going that way. I don't have kids (yet), but man, that would be the coolest shit to an 11 year old.
