While I would like more studio music, I am fine with no bonus disc.

I feel like if they take the time to craft a studio recording for release, then it deserves a place on an actual studio album.

CASSETTE TAPES SPIN BIG GAIN: In 2022, sales of albums on cassette tape in the U.S. increased by 28% to 440,000 (up from 343,000 in 2021). That’s a robust figure for a format that was mostly non-existent a few years ago, when yearly cassette sales numbered just 74,000 in 2015. Now a niche offering marketed to superfans, cassettes were once the leading format for album purchases in the U.S., from the early 1980s until the early 1990s.

The top-selling album on cassette in 2022 was the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, with 17,000 copies sold.

Not sure I understand the cassette tape returning. It's the biggest pain in the ass format to listen to. I swore them off for good when i got my first discman in the 90's. I love vinyl and I don't mind CD's, but the fast-forward/rewinding through to get to your song is very unappealing.

I think cassettes are mostly collector items, and not really being listened to.

The sense of entitlement in this fan base is utterly annoying at times. Be happy with what you get. We all know there's plenty of unreleased music that will see the light of day eventually. We're lucky they're putting anything out at all, to be honest. There's plenty of live recordings of the songs people want to hear. Being pissed about not having a studio version, just to have it, is silly. They're a live act... all you're getting in studio is a version you'll never hear on stage.

6/28/22 at Jones Beach had WATM, TOT, and MME, only show to contain all three. The rest of the set is killer too. Recently opener, Break for It, and VITR Dave solo. Would be an excellent LT pick.

They've released plenty of stuff with Boyd on it since he left... I don't think that's why they haven't released Bismarck.

What a bad take this is. Being disappointed there is no bonus disc is not equivilant to entitlement. DMB doesnt owe fans anything, but we also dont owe it to DMB to "be happy with what you get". Some people will gladly purchase the album as is, others are not convinced with the value proposition and will choose to just stream it instead. It's not terribly complicated.

Yeah, this is me. I own all of DMB's studio albums, but I never listen to them. It's their live stuff that I listen to over and over again.

The reason I bought most of their studio albums was for the live tracks on the bonus disc. If WATM doesn't come with a bonus disc/bonus downloads, I'm just going to stream it.

i dont really get the point of them saving songs for a b side release. releasing a song on a album means absolutely nothing to this band. they have unreleased songs that get played regularly and released songs that never see the light of day. releasing an album of b sides really doesn't obligate them to play them live any more than they already do. they could do a short winter tour like they did with AFTW and then never have to play them again.
