Crazy Thought - DMB is morphing into DM+F

I was working on my live shows and as I looked at a Dave Matthews and Friends show and thinking back to that tour. I feel like the current line up with Tim, Jeff, Buddy, etc is morphed in to this style of show. They've added some covers like DM+F and have more energetic style playing. I wonder if Dave enjoyed those shows so much that as the opportunities came up he added the players to maintain the style and show.

I think one original member died. Another left the band. The sound and direction they want to go now has morphed. I wouldn't necessarily say it's DM&F style, but it's definitely changed and will continue to evolve.

Yes, that isn't always a positive thing. In this case, the band has evolved more into Dave Matthews' band.

All that matters to me is if I enjoy listening to the sounds they are producing. They have evolved and will continue to evolve if they stay together. Call them anything you want.

This is in contrast to my feelings and thoughts on U2. (Mine.... no one has to agree with them to validate them). I used to be obsessed withe U2. Now I cannot bear listening to the last two albums. Maybe my tastes have changed, maybe the band changed... not certain. But whatever the case my love for them is gone.

I am not saying everyone should feel like I do. Or that because I feel like I do somehow Bono and the boys have done wrong by me. Or that "U2 is fucked". If you still like them, enjoy. If you don't listen to something else.

Technically Boyd wasn’t even a founding member, so I agree. Lose any more founding members then it becomes a Dave & Company act for me.

I have the SAME experience with U2. Obsessed for years. The first record I got and didn't like was No Line On The Horizon. Only listened one time. Just really couldn't stand it. I've heard bits and pieces of the last two. Boring.

Currently going through a 90's resurgence with the vinyl reissues of Pop, Zooropa, Achtung Baby and LOVING IT.

So weird to love a band so much and then fall off a cliff with their current output.

Since the passing of Roi, DMB has been doing a fantastic job of adapting/evolving. I’d never expect them to sound or do what they’ve done pre-Roi passing, as it’s just not very reasonable and it’s out of their control. They are still THE band I look forward to seeing each year.

I agree with both of those sentiments. How I feel about U2 must be how some feel about current DMB. The part I don't get is why they can't seem to let those that dig Come Tomorrow be allowed to display that as a valid opinion. Such is Ants. If someone tells me they like current U2, that is fine with me.

Matthews's is correct, and Matthews' is incorrect but accepted since it's so commonly done. Matthews' would only be correct if we were talking about several people named Matthew who all possess something. Since "Matthews" is not a plural noun, it needs an apostrophe and another s to make it possessive.
