I absolutely love Dinosaur BBQ as well and the fact that I can see one from my office window is doing horrible things for my figure.

Lanovo sells frozen foodservice wings. Just got 10 lbs of samples I'm excited to try.

I think they opened in Buffalo on Valentine's Day week-end, we've gone over the border to eat there four times already.

I love the brisket platter, that jalapeno relish is amazing...but I can't help myself and always order at least 6 wings on the side they're so bloody good.

Fried Green Tomatoes there are great also, fuck it, EVERYTHING is pretty great there. I am salivating huge right now.

Do you think the 16 delicious sauces the OP speaks of are all variations of Buffalo sauce?

So what are your favorite wing places, sauces and styles?

Just playing off the title. There is only one Buffalo style wing, and it's made with butter and cayenne pepper hot sauce. I'm a purist when it comes to B wings.

Problem nowadays is, for me to make them at home, it's more expensive than the restaurant bought ones. For a bag of approximately 13 wing sections it's like $8-$9 at my local grocery stores. Add blue cheese and celery, and that's another $5.

That's true. But, making them at home and then drinking at home with friends (say during a game) ends up being a lot cheaper overall.

For me, the best wings I've ever had - and nothing else compares - come from The Chicken or the Egg on Long Beach Island in Jersey. Huge wings, excellent breading (or naked if you prefer) and 16 delicious sauces to choose from. Their Ludicrous Challenge was even featured on Man vs. Food several years back. Can't wait to get down the shore for these this summer.

So what are your favorite wing places, sauces and styles?

Also an incredible place by the University of Connecticut called Bidwell. I think like 30 different flavors...delicious.

Anyway, there used to be a place called the Chicken Coop in WIlkes-Barre, PA that was really good back in the 80's. Pretty sure it still exists. Mostly all of the good wings I've eaten are from Pizza places around the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Area (too many to list)

Born, raised and live in Buffalo so here's what you need to know:
    1. Buffalo Wings were invented at the Anchor Bar. Anchor Bar definitely has good wings but I've always been underwhelmed when I eat there and so are most Buffalonians I talk to. It's a tourist spot - definitely better places besides AB.

    2. The general Buffalo consensus is that Duff's Original location (on the corner of Sheridan and Millersport) has the best wings. A few years back Obama visited Buffalo but went to the Duff's on Dick Road () which is good but not as good as the original.

    3. While Duff's is the general consensus for great wings, many Buffalonians have their personal preference. Mine is Gabriel's Gate on Allen Street. Others I've heard are JP Bullfeathers and Pearl Street.

Gabriel's Gate and Duff's are far and away the best wings I've ever had.

    Edit: Dammit I'm hungry now

agreed, they couldn't cook a wing to save their lives, its a shame

AZ ranch & louisiana lickers are too good though, i usually buy those sauces when i'm there

For purposes of this discussion, I consider "buffalo wings" to be any chicken wings, fried or baked or even grilled, breaded or naked, and tossed in sauce.

I know you've addressed this, but the actual wings at QSL are very meh. Cool sauce choices for sure but they're just run of the mill poorly prepared chicken wings.

I knew someone else had to have been to the Chegg before. I've had plenty of tasty wings -- there's a fairly local place for me called Blue Dog Cafe that makes fantastic wings -- but Killer Beesting at Chegg is the cream of the crop.

Also, their traditional buffalo "hot" sauce is real good too, as are some of their funkier non-traditional sauces, like Santos.

accidentally posted this in the bbq thread....

been doing this method for homemade style where I get a really really bluey -smelly cheese and smear that on the naked wing, then take a light coating of cornstarch/flour mixture and into the wok for frying, then tossed in a franks hot sauce mixture / sriracha-honey mixture. Really awesome flavor.

There are many different variations on the cheesesteak, but there is only one "Philly" style cheesesteak.

Meanwhile, there are a wide variety of sauces that still qualify as buffalo sauce. Even Anchor Bar in Buffalo has mild, medium, hot, spicy barbeque, and suicidal, several of which don't remotely resemble the traditional orange sauce associated with buffalo wings.
