And the lawn isn't that bad. Get as close to the front as possible and if you're with a group of freinds it's definitely worth it. You just have to be good at ignoring the bs around you.

I've heard lots of Alpine lawn horror stories. Everything from people doing it on the lawn, to getting drinks dropped on them, to getting fireworks set off by them.

Lawn can suck if you don't get within the first half and don't have a decent group. But I've done it and have always had a blast and never had a problem with douches by me. Some people need to grow a pair and tell people to stfu or gtfo of their space if their bothering you. I've done it and have had others around me applaud for removing the asshole(s) in the area.

Exactly. Ive done the Alpine lawn 6x and you gotta get in there as soon as the gates open. If there is a douche by you, especially if you are by the front rails, just push them in the cement mote in front of you seperating lawn and pavillion. Did it to an annoying, pissing drunk a couple of years ago and everyone in the vicinity was pretty happy. He got hauled off because security in the mote thought he was trying to enter pavillion.

    Re: *^*^* Alpine 2012 *^*^*

Lawn isnt really that terrible. Ive been there with just me and my girlfriend and been fine. We had a few schmucks n2 last year who were blowing their weed smoke directly in our face and like bouncing off us, but we literally moved 15 feet and were fine. My biggest lawn complaint is sometimes its hard to hear the real quiet stuff because the crowd on the lawn tends not to shut up.

That being said, I'm definitely shooting for pavilion this year, after finally experiencing close seats at Caravan this summer, I want that every time.

Theres tons of campgrounds around, but be prepared to jump on camping fast once dates come out. We stayed at WW lake campground the last few years, no more this year since weve made new DMB buddies who live close by.

CANT WAIT FOR THE RETURN TO ALPINE!
and hopefully my first Deer Creek trip

No kidding? Well thanks dude...that is helpful information. This has to be a ginormous place if they never run out of room there and dont do reservations...are there designated "sites" or is just like "pick your spot on the grass and set up camp"?

You pick your own spot on the grass and set up camp. If you show up on Friday afternoon/night you should be able to get a decent spot.

FWIW, I've had some really, really bad Alpine Lawn experiences. Even been in the front of it before in Warehouse Preferred, and it was still really bad. I refuse to sit in it anymore.

Glad to see this thread going. Been going to Alpine since 2008, and am planning on my first pavilion experience this year. I have no problem with the lawn, but I just want to get a bit closer, and it'll be great to have an assigned seat (i.e. more time in the lots before showtime).

Also, camping is most definitely the way to go. There are tons of random campgrounds scattered around the area. And it's almost all DMBers there for the weekend. It's a good time.

From my understanding it is the green lot and is limited to a limited amount of occupants

From what I read, the camping at Alpine was gonna be around 500 spots so not that many spaces.
