Zilla, thanks for the heads up on the Houston officials. I live here and did not know they told people to stay. Not joking. I had the weather channel and news on non stop for almost a week, but I guess I didn't pay attention to what city officials said. I just looked at the forecasts and other information available and made my own decision.

Right now sucks, but get back at me in December-February when we're in shorts and flip flops while Nor'Easters and blizzards are dumping three feet of snow on half the country while the rest of the north deals with subfreezing temperatures and sub-zero windchill. South of you in Clay County. Almost all neighborhoods surrounding mine have it back.

no power in FL definitely must suck.. especially 4-5 days.

I had a 7 day power outage after Hurricane Irene in college (UCONN). Wasn't the worst thing ever, but those last couple of days were pretty terrible... Luckily campus had power to charge phones and such, but off campus housing was shot.

I got power back on Tuesday afternoon. All of my food in my fridge was shot because we were at my in-laws for the storm and couldn't put it in a cooler. Fridge currently looks like a college kid's fridge with only beer, soda, a few Lunchables, and condiments in it. Still no cable or internet, however.

Can't remember if I mentioned it in the irritant thread, but lots of homes without power up in the Atlanta area starting Monday when the storm got here. Most people, like me, seemed to be without power from Monday afternoon to sometime Tuesday morning. A few unlucky people went the better part of the week without power, and I think they may still even be working on more.

But right after getting power back to our neighborhood on Tuesday, some girl slammed into a power pole on Wednesday a couple streets down from me. It's a 25mph street, on a slight incline, approaching a stop sign. Apparently she was reaching for a plant that was sliding off her seat.

Anyway, she totaled her car and knocked the pole to a 60 degree angle, cutting power for a good chunk of the neighborhood (not me). There was about a day and a half delay of getting it fixed because a replacement pole needed to be tracked down but they got it all back up late this morning.

So ended up without power from Irma for 5 days. We left the house after day 3 and went on a 3 day cruise. Weirdest vacation I've ever taken. But home now with power and life hopefully returns to normal tomorrow.

Finally got power back earlier tonight at 9:30pm after two hours short of seven days without. 84 degrees inside our house has never felt so nice (was generally 88-89 the last few days). Headed to Orlando for the weekend just to have power, lights, AC, and a warm shower. Was interesting drinking beers and watching all the power guys replace a transformer next to our back yard tonight, and all our neighbors cheered when power came back on. Talked to the power guys from Canada who did the work and were awesome guys, but they were tired and ready to head home.

Not worried about any of these current storms.

but as a weak tropical storm/depression- dont see much damage coming from it
