Possibly. They need starting pitching due to the injuries. Carrasco is hopefully coming back soon but we've been saying that all season. Syndergaard was setback, and he likely isn't going to be ready until September and likely only in a relief role. That, plus after losing our #5 starter for the season to TJ (and 1 of our long-man relievers) and taking into account how awful our #4 starter has been (Peterson is sporting a 5.40 ERA and left yesterday's game with injury), they badly need to bolster the back end of the rotation.
As far as the offense, I have no clue what they do. The guys we have - when healthy (which has not been often) - are all hitting well below their career marks. The team has gone into multiple collective slumps this year, and they've been piss poor at RISP and clutch hitting for a few years now. We fired the hitting coach and that didn't seem to change too much. You probably want to give them a bit longer to snap out of it, but at some point they have to start scoring. I just don't know what sort of piece they could acquire to fix the mess, and I don't think they have enough pieces to trade for anything worthwhile on offense.
They're in 1st place - with a shrinking lead - solely on the backs of 3 starters pitching extremely well, and due to how shitty the NL East has been.
