When I caught Spoon in '03 (with Roi!) at The Rose Garden, I did not know what I was witnessing. I was even unimpressed at the time.

That article also said Dallas was sold out, which it wasn't.

amazing how different of reactions people like us can have to 'normal concert-goers' lol
I also didn't catch it until the opening line at which point I was FREAKING out. It's still my buddy's favorite concert moment ever. He always says, Jesse just starts screaming "HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!" I def got a few weird looks from the people around us who had no clue what was happening.

Same... I've told this story before, but Riverbend was naturally my home venue when I lived in Cincy. I skipped seeing the band in 2015 as I was going to Bonnaroo the next week and funds were tight.

In 2016 I was moving to Denver Memorial Day weekend, and the Cincy show happened to be the Friday before. Again, money was tight and I was moving across the country in another week, going to a DMB show by myself didn't seem to be a super prudent move. So I skipped it.

What does Riverbend get? Last Stop. Would have been my last DMB show at Riverbend, otherwise known as, my Last Stop at Riverbend. That will forever be my biggest DMB regret of all time. I have given up ever getting a full length Last Stop.

I consider Spoon to be my makeup song for missing Last Stop.

Unfortunately, unfortunately because I didn't see many DMB shows when Roi was alive, I didn't catch The Last Stop until after his death at the Gorge in '16. Because I live in Montana. But I'm relieved both check boxes have been checked, seeing full length The Last Stop and seeing one of my concerts I've attended released as a LT or Live At/In.... in the same fell swoop.

I’ve seen last stop twice but I’ve been chasing spoon which I missed by one night during the D&T tour a few years ago. Super bummed I decided against going to night two.

They seem to be adhering to Buddy's interview 6 months ago where he talked about playing rarer tunes that he had yet to play with them.

    - Break Free
    - Break for It
    - Shotgun
    - Dreaming Tree

Spoon is definitely a possibility this year.

I said a year ago to be ready for the studio cut of WATM to be 4:45. And I’m STILL frustrated by it lol. Wait 3 years to get the album version of WATM and it’s truncated with no flute solo at all…

It really would be incredibly frustrating if they did that. I could at least see the reasoning in doing something like that to it if it were a single, but WATM really does not sound like single material to me at all. I wish bands would let non single songs breath and not give a flying fuck about trying to make them short and compact.

True I have seen captain at Hartford a few years back get little excitement

Drunken Soldier gorge N1 2019 from the lawn of all places was quiet in my area and I was excited (first gorge show thought there would be more excitement.

Spoon in the Hartford N2 lawn in 2013 I was again shocked it was played and nobody cared within 6 feet of me but me

Tour debut of "Sugar Will" at Deer Creek last year was a mass exit for the concessions and the "You Never Know" opener was pretty low energy. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there pretty shocked about both.

The majority of 2022 DMB concert atendees are more SU, BW, AFTW, CT fans than they are Big 3 fans. BS & ED are hit or miss with certain tracks vs others. I have a friend who loves "Dave" and his favorite song is SMLAM. He was at LT 13 and acknowledges it. Just a different type of audience than this crowd here on Ants. Same guy who loved my reaction to Spoon with no idea of the significance.

    Spot on.

For every fan hoping for busted stuff there are ten more screaming for cornbread. The release of everday->standup really thinned out the 90’s base of concert goers.

Same, I was tearing up at the Gorge n3 2016 when they broke it out. Hugging all of my friends who jusrt finally gotten it at the c-ville show.

You essentially have had 3 years in the last 15 years to possibly catch it. Rough

I saw the first "full" band Spoon back in 98. I use quotes because Carter was offstage due to the crickets swarming.

100% and not specific to DMB. I've never understood the talking concert goer. Why go see someone if you're only into a song or two??

My first show was LT3. I was a fan, but not a know all the songs fan and was mostly just familiar with Listener Supported and BTCS. I was like, this show is boring.

Then spent the rest of my DMB career chasing IBYU.

Even if it was a single they could make a radio edit version.

Yeah me too, big time. I’ve been at a show within eight days of it being played five different times. I’ve given up on ever getting it, or at least a full version of it.

I’ve been pretty lucky and have multiple Spoons and Dreaming Trees, but the Last Stop would complete my “song chasing”. Everything else would just be the cherry on top.

They should just record the songs as they like them and let management work out the other crap.

DMB isn't a band that's likely to be featured in radio programming, so tailoring songs for a single seems pointless. Songs like IOY and DYR were summer "hit" ready, but not released or promoted as singles in any traditional or modern manner.

Folks have been doing for decades, but the model of bands like Queen, Pink Floyd, and others that just released the songs that they created without concern for commercial viability have created some of most amazing music. DMB was one of those bands and it would be great if they got back to that.

It's funny, as I've gotten older I would rather hear the hits than a rarity. In the 2000s I was so obsessed with "getting" rare cuts that I wouldn't appreciate it the joy of thousands of people all knowing the same song. It really crystallized in 2016 when I saw Springsteen a few times and it hit me that there are a finite number of E Street Band shows left - suddenly all I cared about was screaming Born To Run and Rosalita with a packed stadium. That feeling obviously became stronger during Covid.

Don't get me wrong I'm not clamoring for You & Me, but give me an Ants closer every single show from here on out.

Idk, I just think it's a broad gap because it's a band who's been doing this for 30+ years.

I mean I'm 34, have been to 25 shows, but didn't get into the and until 2004, when I was a sophomore in high school. It's all over the map. Young, old, middle aged. It's a vast catalog, with a vast audience. Never going to make everybody happy.

Wish we could do some song trading! I've gotten The Last Stop 4 times (3 full version, 1 with Leroi), but never gotten Spoon! I'll trade you!

I've got 5 Halloweens. I'd trade 4 of the 5 for 1 last stop. Can't touch the 08 Riverbend Everyday (fake) -> Halloween though. That's off limits.
