This x 1000.

Nothing slows things down faster than generic "So what do you like to do for fun?" one or two texts in.

Focus on the night, and something specific that happened between the two of you.

Also, since she mentioned to you that she just broke up with her boyfriend I would tread very lightly and don't get your hopes up. Keep it light hearted and prepare to be friend zoned.

Be honest. I'm not offended if he doesn't remember my name after first meeting, I usually don't. I would be offended if by the third or fourth time, he didn't know it then.

The only thing really specific that I remember between us was her laughing at how I made a joke about how every guy in the bar was after her subsequently every time another guy came up and put down his best Mac we made eye contacted and rolled our eyes and giggled. It was kinda like a "seeeeee". But I feel like making any reference to that would be dumb because who knows if she actually went home with one of them after leaving. I think some dude drove her and her friend back to wherever but I'm pretty sure e was a cousin or something like that.

ya that and just coming from a funeral is what made me tread lightly all night while talking to her not really trying to take advantage of her because like I said she seemed very vulnerable and I think douchebag fuckheads were picking up on that.

I picked up on it right away but I wasn't trying to exploit it.

She seemed like a legit cool person, gf material and super hot.

Didn't want to risk being a one night stand or creep her out.

    Me too Alli.

I never forget a face. I'm usually decent to ok with names but I think I was pretty damn hammered at the end of the night and it's funny cause I remember the names of the dudes I was deflecting but not hers.

To BE honest I want to be honest... and say I'm really sorry I don't remember your name but you seem like an awesome person an I'd like to get to know you" but that doesn't always come off the way you want it to and especially over text.

If you send a text like that you're doing exactly what the dudes were doing last night... Keeping it "formal" yet sweet is better. Your first text doesn't even have to admit you don't know her name. That can come once you get into conversation.

If you send a text like you just said it has a higher probability of having her eyes roll like last night.

Call her and hope she doesn't answer. Her name is probably on her voicemail.

All of that is instant roll-your-eyes anti-poon. It puts you in a lesser standing, as if you are saying "You're so great if only you give me a chance I'll be awesome and"

You have to stand out. Act confident. If you act like you're thankful she's giving you the time of day, you're done.

Don't ever preface something with "I want to be honest with you:", it just makes whatever you say after those words have an awkward spin.

    Re: Dating is miserable

I had decent conversations going on with at least 2 different girls at one point on OKC. I had got to the point of not wanting to message online for too long anymore and was cutting straight to "let's get together". One girl vanished for like 2 weeks, while another responded and we went on our first date shortly thereafter. But sometime either right before or right after that date, the other girl finally messaged back and said she was down for meeting.

Problem was after 1-2 weeks of hearing nothing, I had deleted our conversation on OKC and thus could NOT remember her name. Thought it would be weird to then set up a date but be like, and btw, I forget your name But it worked out because things with the other girl seemed like they would go well. So it was my turn to play the vanishing act on her

edit: also, 3 months with this one as of this Wednesday

I meant when you're at home trying to text someone meaningful and you don't even know their name. Get your shit together via spreadsheet.

In other news, dating is no longer miserable. Met a girl on OkCupid and talked for about 3 weeks, then visited her in Walla Walla and I can't even describe to you guys our connection. It was instant. I haven't had some understand me like this in a long time. That night we officially started dating; it was so obvious from the moment we met that we were gonna be together, plus all the time we had talked beforehand.
She meets all the criteria (school, car, job, ambitions, funny, smart, beautiful) and I feel like this is surreal. And I'm so conditioned to things failing that I keep worrying about it going downhill, when clearly shes just as into me (if not more so) as I am into her. It's just cool to have finally found someone.

Please increase the hot factor of nurses; it would be much more awesome. The stereotype that female nurses need to be hot should come back...I feel bad for the bros and lesbians who think hospitals are swimming with hot female nurses and that's not the case.
I've always wanted to bag a murse (have you noticed male nurses are getting cuter, though?).

I cannot wait for this chick to start spewing molten crazy all over the place. Oh, the stories will be grand.

I work in a hospital. I must be lucky to have landed in a place with many lookers. Getting drinks with one nurse tomorrow.

When I spent a week in the hospital back in college, I had two nurses:

    Daytime Nurse: Rachel
    Nightime Nurse: Ivanna (or something)

The daytime nurse was blond, and a girl-next-door type smokeshow. At LEAST a 9. The night time nurse was this crazy 40 year old Russian bitch.

I had to get my blood drawn like 4 times a day. When the daytime nurse did it, I hardly felt a thing. She always smiled when she was about to prick me as well, which was warm and friendly.

The night time nurse would go "Do nut vorry, it zill not hurt!" and would stab the shit out of me. Horrible.

    LOL'd at the accent.

I'm glad that hot nurse was good at her job; usually the stereotype isn't that way at all.

Don't do this to yourself. I did with my girlfriend when we were in our first week or two (omg, havent heard from her in 3 hours). Learned quickly that she couldn't respond to texts for sometimes hours at a time when she was at work. I had been used to my ex who would always reply within like 20 minutes unless she unexpectedly fell asleep

Not saying your girl necessarily is busy at work per se, but point is there could always be a reason.

Edit: oh and there's always the consideration that people like to play these waiting games when it comes to flirting/dating/texting

    Ya I know that game.

I was thinking of saying one more thing like "this is Andrew from the beach bar btw" or something to that extent
