Re: Favorite Musical

No Rent and no Book of Mormon.

Tommy and Man of La Mancha should have been eliminated.

To my knowledge, no. I passed on tickets numerous times and was always able to plan for one months in advance.

I believe tickets started moving much quicker once they were announced for a live performance and I think that's why the joke was made

I could be very wrong though.

It was definitely sold out way before the Grammys, but it hasn't been out for THAT long. I wanna say it opened in August.

It's not impossible to get in the building, but decent less expensive seats together are impossible to find. If you wanna spend $500 for a single special orchestra you can probably find a ticket within the next week or two. Or if you want to sit in literally the last row by yourself for $250 you can probably go within 3-4 weeks. I have friends that have done both. But if you want 2 decent seats together orchestra or balcony for $250 you'll be waiting for months. I got two this past December for next November which was 100% the first show two seats were together at the $250 price range.

I bought tickets for Hamilton back in September right when they released the soundtrack and it started to blow up. The tickets were literally the last row of the mezzanine, but it didn't matter. My wife and I finally went a few weeks ago, and let me just say, it is just as good as all the hype. We went with extremely high expectations, and they were surpassed. It was SO GOOD. I'd go again if I wouldn't have to get a second mortgage in order to afford tickets on the secondary market. The cast recording has pretty much been on repeat for months. I'm waiting for it to get old, but it doesn't.

I guess I could have done better. I even saw Rent 5th row center here in Denver.

For the record though, Man of La Mancha is a really brilliant and moving story and musical. It completely fascinates me.

For Tommy, I guess I'm a Who fan. Deaf, dumb, and blind, and kicks ass at pinball? And an Acid Queen? I saw it at the Warner theater with Tina Turner as the Acid Queen. For me its another good one.

Waited in the cancellation line for Hamilton (22 hours) and got row G center or Hester's tickets for face value, four rows behind Jim Carey (sp?). Wonderful musical. Exceeds every bit of hype. Wow wow wow

Les Mis, West Side Story, and Tommy

Hard to put Tommy in that group because it's more of a rock opera imo. Les Mis has the best music by far of any musical. Great story too. Glad I got to see it at the Fox back in 08. Grew up on that shit along with West Side Story and Tommy.

My dad has the 10th anniversary Les Mis anniversary DVD, and they bring out all the Jean Valjean's to perform "Do You Hear the People Sing?". Good stuff.

Hamilton's rise and fall during the American Revolution. Pretty great take on it, historically accurate from what I understand and know about US history, pretty much serves as a tribute to a founding father that gets little praise for other than the national bank
