Cooking Question

If I heat corn on the cob on the stove, its not going to start popping into pop corn is it?

A quick response would be great.

    Definitely not.

You should try grilling your corn on the cob though, it's absolutely amazing grilled.

My TV is basically always on the Food Network.

    Re: Cooking Question

I would grill it but I dont have a grill. I'll have to try the oven next time.

The frying pan seems to be working well. I'm just sort of on the edge of my seat here. I have a feeling a little thing is going to shoot up in my eye.

    Re: Cooking Question

To Grill: Leave the corn in the husk, wet it down, toss on grill for 10 - 20 minutes or until the kernels inside are tender.

To Steam: Husk corn (remove outer leaves and silk). Set an inch of water to boil with a steamer and lid on top. When water is boiling, put husked corn in, cover, and steam about ten minutes.

To Boil: Set a large covered pot of water on the stove to boil. When the water is boiling, add husked corn and boil about ten minutes. You can also add a teaspon of sugar to the water to sweeten the corn.

The amount of time you steam, boil or even grill the corn will depend on how small the kernels are and how recently it was picked. Very fresh tender corn can take four minutes to cook. Older, tougher corn with bigger kernels can take up to 15 minutes. Test it if necessary - take it out of the water, run it under a little cold water and pinch a kernel or taste one. Don't burn yourself though.

    Fun ways to serve corn:
    Lots of butter and salt
A bowl of lemon or lime wedges to squeeze over buttered corn
Mix a little garlic, chili powder or fresh herbs into your butter

    Re: Cooking Question

^ Wow, thanks a lot. This is some great advice.

Im going to need to get a small grill for my apartment this coming school year. The possibilities are too endless not to.

And chili powder sounds very interesting. Im going to have to try that.
