Get the diaper champ! It is WELL worth the money. No refill cartridges needed. Is SOOO much better than the genie. And cheaper. All of our friends swore by it and so we go got it. VERY happy with it.

So we have all our crib bedding and a variety of decorations and we are having the nursery painted in 2 weeks.

Agreed 100% on the diaper genie comments. Worst part is when you have to push the diaper down through the 'trap door'... it's an inherently bad process, because the trap door is built to be tight... you can get the picture there. I can't believe they haven't figured out a way to use a pedal or button or some other way to open the trap door and then have it shut tightly/securely. Diaper genie = no thanks.

So we got the crib today, 1200 for a crib, dresser, and hutch. Seemed fairly reasonable compared to alot of the stuff we were looking at

Thats why I've been a big proponent of the diaper champ. If you look on the picture in the link below, how it works is that there is a chute that you put the diaper in. Then you flip the handle from one side to another. The chute then flips, drops the diaper into the bin, and then acts as a seal so you dont smell anything. And there are no refills, fragrance products, etc. BEST product out there for diapers.

I'm for getting those dirty diapers out of the house as quickly as possible. That's why we put them in small scented diaper bags and toss them in the kitchen trash which gets tossed probably once every other day at the minimum. The bags ensure they don't stink up the house and you never have dirty diapers lingering around for too long.

Yeah, she doesn't sleep well during the night. I think a mattress would help her and us!!!

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over a crib mattress. Just make sure it fits snugly in the crib, but I wouldn't waste too much on luxury or anything.
