I believe last year they sold a Fleet Foxes record signed by the band that was limited to 250 copies for like $20 plus shipping. Other than that, suitcase turntables and stuff. Prime day has always been a hit or miss, depending on what you're looking for.

A Picture of Nectar sounds great! I haven't really heard a bad Phish vinyl release yet.

I was in London two weeks ago and walked by Abbey Road Studios. It’s crazy how it’s a pretty normal looking building that you wouldn’t think is a recording studio, but is where so many big albums were recorded.

I did a tour of it a couple years ago before the Gilmour Show.

Standing in Studio 2 was amazing stuff.

Just a simple, ugly, empty room....

This one is the Mono 2xLP 45RPM, and right now I'd say it is THE definitive version. More to come on that though

Getting ready to pull the trigger on my system upgrade (10 year annv. present from my wife) All of a sudden I’m torn on the speakers. I’m currently going with the Polk RTI A5 floor speakers. I’m just undecided if I want book shelf speakers instead? My music room is in my basement and it’s a rectangle room 8’ x 15’ in size. Any thoughts based on room size if I’m good.

Part of the reason I’m second guessing is I want a minimalist look and feel. The room does feel a hair tight but I’m not sure if I want the speakers taking up room on the floor or ontop of my shelf with the turntable and amp.

Damn, after hearing some of the problems people were having with the DMB Live vinyl sets I coped mine open today. Solo look good, the The Academy C/D has a big pressing defect on it. G/H looks to have some defects as well, as soon as I get the turntable back up and running I'll see if it affects playback, but C/D is definitely shot. My last Music Today issue was resolved really well so I'm hoping this return is smooth. I'm a little surprised my C/D was packaged, its fairly obvious that there is a problem with it.

    Is it similar to Mcwyffe's?

I'm wondering if these sat outside somewhere for a while. Between some of the warping I've seen (Daks being some of the worst I've seen), and the issue of plastic melting from inner sleeves, it seems like heat has been a common issue

Whatever you do, you want to avoid putting speakers directly on the same surface as your turntable

So if stuck with these I plan on getting the Yamaha A-S301BL, it looks like the output is 60w per channel. I thought I saw a review saying the RTI A5s should get 100w.

It probably said they can *handle* 100w.

If you were actually listening at 100w (or even 60 really) in an 8x15 room you'd be deaf within the hour.

Thanks, I didn’t know how much it mattered or not, I didn’t know if the speakers needed a minimal threshold from an amp to work properly.

Not really - what you what to look at is the impedance of the speakers - on most speakers this will be either 4 or 8 ohms. Then take a look at the specs on your receiver - the power output will be different depending on the impedance of the speakers. It'll usually say XXX watts into 8 ohms, XXX into 4 ohms.

you guys use mat on tt?

i've got project debut - with acrylic platter
everything i've read says you don't "need" one with acrylic

    i've noticed two things
if i attempt to flip album without stopping tt, when you set album back down it slides
i've also noticed that using a brush on album as it spins, can sometimes make album slide
i've got a little bit of static in basement of my house as well

    thoughts?

i've been looking at these deerskin leather deals

    They can be Bi-amp'd.

I would't put any less than 100-150 at them.

I use 4 of them in my Atmos set up.
