Re: ***official citi field thread***

I was just thinking with the whole field being GA and everyone rushing in to get a great spot, it's going to be tough to get a poster

Thats Ok. We don't want a baseball team. We have 2 NFL teams. Baseball sucks. The only way I would go to Citi field is if I got free Mets tickets, or if it was for a Dave show. Clearly I will be spending more time at concerts this year at Citi field than baseball games. Go Jets.

Citi-field is very easy to get to via public transportation. It is right next to Lagaurdia airport there are/is a plethora of hotels around there without paying Manhattan prices. I definately would NOT recommend staying in Long Isalnd City as a previous poster mentioned, not to confuse out of towners but Long Island City is NOT Long Island which I would recommend and is not far from Citi-field either however there arent too many hotels. I have to repeat I do not recommend staying in Long Island City as it is an extremely seedy area.

Only someone who does not currently live in that area would say that. Given that I actually live near there (and have walked through there many times), I take exception to that.

And since many people who are coming from other places may want to visit the CITY, staying an hour+ away on Long Island isn't the most time-efficient and cost-effective option.

But yes, there are many hotels near LaGuardia Airport that are much cheaper than staying in Manhattan.

Sorry Emily I call them as I see them I would NOT want my daughter walking through Long Island City especially at night, and I dont even have a daughter. I dont recommend Long Island either as there are not many places to stay. If one stays at one of the hotels near Laguardia
they can walk to citi-field and its alot more affordable then Manhattan which is a mere 10 minute subway ride away.
Sorry if I've offended your hood.

I used to work in LIC, I wouldn't wanna be walking around there at night after a show either if I didn't know the area.

There are tons of hotels on LI plus the LIRR, which makes transportation easier. I would NEVER stay at a hotel near LGA & walk to Citi Field, you'd have to be nuts.

It's definitely do-able, but why JC? If it's a price issue, then I'm fairly certain you could find something within your price range somewhere in the city. Hauling in from JC would take a while.

Well im coming up from delaware and not really very good at driving in the city. The most comparable ive driven is is Philly. Im just trying to find a place that is reasonable in price and easy to drive too.

Gotcha. I would say that's fine then, especially if you don't want to drive into the city. Just be prepared to spend at least an hour on the train travelling from the PATH to the subway to get out to the stadium.

Oh man, an hour on the train...that isn't good. Me and my buddy are coming up from delaware and were planning on checking out the city for awhile before the show. But if you say its like an hour on the train, we might have to rethink where we are staying then. Ill have to ask him how he feels about driving in the city

Ok, hold on. I misunderstood you.

It would be an hour FROM Jersey City to the show, including all of the train transfers. That's if you're going straight from your hotel to the venue. I didn't realize you'd be walking around for a bit first.

It's probably 20 minutes from Jersey City into Manhattan. From Manhattan to CitiField on the subway probably about a half hour. Split that up with some walking/touristing and you're golden.

No worries, I wasn't & Im still not planning on going to these two nights (and would have requested mine if I was) .

BUT, Im actually considering letting some (one or two) out-of-town-ants stay at my place in exchange for a ticket...

It's probably 20 minutes from Jersey City into Manhattan. From Manhattan to CitiField on the subway probably about a half hour. Split that up with some walking/touristing and you're golden.
Awesome...well the good thing is I will have plenty of time to figure out the hotel situation. I have only stayed in NYC one time 2 years ago when I saw the Royal Rumble at MSG. I think this will be a really good time. My friend goes to NY all the time. He said there is a bar there that has beer pong, so we will probably pregame there and then head to the show
