Seems interesting and I want to do it this summer, but not if it's not a solid brewery/tasting room.

Very good beer, not the greatest brewery location wise. They are really beating the "craft beer" thing to death there. I was a huge 2 roads fan for a long time but every beer now from them seems to be billed as "limited" or "special" run. Don't get me wrong, they are good beers but they are really going all in on the hipster beer scene.
Other places worth checking out which are kind of on the way to Hartford:
Brewport: Bridgeport, CT which is within walking distance of the ferry and offers food as well. Average beer/good thin crust pizza.
Stony Creek: Branford, CT has the best location hands down. On the shoreline, huge building. Average beer at best. Can't beat the location. Several food trucks outside. It's a few exits north of the 95/91 interchange so not that far out of your way.
Thimble Island: Branford, CT has the better beer but isn't the best location. My favorite beer of the group but not worth going if you aren't in this area often. It's in a corporate park area. Few lawn games outside, that's about it.
Alvarium Beer Company: New Britain, CT I've heard is pretty good but never been.
Still Hill Brewery: Rocky Hill, CT is on the way to Hartford. It's very close actually. I've never been to this one either but I hear its one of the better ones in the state.
Outside of those you end up with City Steam in Hartford. Within walking distance of the venue. Its ok. I guess it depends on what the plan is. All day drinking then head up 2 hours before the show? Stony Creek 100%. Grab a drink or 2? Brewport (it's right there off the ferry). Something in the middle? 2 roads or any of the others.
