The pit is huge. Shouldn't have trouble finding a ticket. Last year, you could practically trip over a Bristow pit ticket in the ticket exchange. I've never tried to get the rail but I'm sure it's doable. Last year we made it in right before the monsoon and were about 5 back and then moved back further when the rest of the group got in. I think that was around 8pm. I tried to figure out the time by text messages but I have a new phone and the text merge didn't transfer correctly.

Bristow - where the pit is monstrous and I'm surprised people's skin hasn't melted right off of their bodies when they've waited on the asphalt to try to get on the rail.
Bristow Ants tailgate is the best part about this place! Whooooooooop!
Last year's monsoon situation was the most amazing clusterfuck I've ever experienced at a show... EVER... in my life.

We just did the Avetts shows at Wolf Trap and despite the temp being 10 - 15 degrees cooler than today, you could feel the humidity. We're going back at the end of June and mid- to late-August...w/ DMB @JLL in between. Hoping DMB @ Mans/ford and SPAC is more pleasant. Been living in NoVa for 20 years now, but I still haven't adjusted to the weather...too freaking warm and humid.

Frozen drinks...that's become a go to. Ideally smoothies as I'm not much of a drinker.

Did Avett on Thursday and had a blast. I hope DMB or D&T play Wolf Trap in the later years. Great venue.

It’s still not ridiculous in CT. A lot can happen in 3 weeks but I don’t see it being insanely gross for Hartford.

Unfortunately, not making it to this one this year; but I concur that the tailgate is awesome...although finding a place to wait until the lots open is a pain in the ass.

Excited to hit this one up for a 3rd time! This year's show is on the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, so I'm planning to take in some of the festivities on the National Mall early in the day before heading out to teh lubez.

So dumb that they open the lots that late now. Most venues are the same way.

Hell, why don't they just make it 6:30? Park and then go right into the venue, fine citizens! No loitering or having fun!!!!!

I would like to go back to bristow this year, but the last two years bristow has gotten screwed. I went to that 2016 show and it was alright, until you look at all that shit that got cut.

Brutal cuts for sure. Dave could have totally threw us a bone last year with the shortened set and cut out some of the CT tracks and maybe a JTR. Would like to get back to Bristow 2013 sets

Where'd this info come from? I remember complaining to my wife that the show was short...everyone else was getting 20 song sets and we got 17 that night.

We've not heard DIDO since SPAC '97...although we did miss a lot of years.

JTR and VItR (even Stay) should've been audibles. Even if Buddy wasn't up to speed, the band could've worked through the tunes easily and it would have made for a special show. VA doesn't get much love during the summer...best bet is C-ville and N1 was not a great show last year.

I’m listening to this 2016 tape for the first time ever. This Seek Up I really good but it’s all Carter. The horns really aren’t my thing on this Seek Up intro, but holy shit Carter attacks this intro. What a grove he was in, just absolutely pounding the drums!

My wife and I just purchased 4 lowers for the show. First time attending a show in Bristow so really looking forward to it.

For the vets out there... best place to stay? tailgate? Both of us are craft beer people--already scoped out that there is a brewery nearby. We have a premier parking pass but with this being our only show of the summer and a nice getaway it would be nice not to worry about driving to and from.

Best bet with availability would be Holiday Inn Manassas - Battlefield


As for tailgate: With us. We usually have 30ish people in our group, all awesome people. We have folks that bring too much food and too much to drink and we have a great time.

The brewery closest to the venue (Tin Cannon) is pretty okay, it's the second closest to my house and I go once or twice a year.

As you mentioned since you have premium parking, getting in and out will be a breeze for you guys, but you're more than welcome to hang with us in the lots. We're always situated in the orange outlined parking lot, and in the green area. http://i.imgur.com/Cekn4yQ.jpg

Even though this is our "home" venue, I can offer no help. I only head out here to see shows and so far, it's only been for DMB. We've not tailgated, but may this year should the weather be in our favor. Driving/parking can be a nightmare...I took too long to buy premium parking and will likely pay the price.

Ants has a tailgate though, with a sign up sheet to bring all sortsa stuff.
