He was one of the owners favorites, but got completely exiled by Chip Kelly. Comes back and rebuilds a roster that Kelly ruined, takes them to the SB. Goes all in with a ton of realllllyyy bad moves, misses on almost every draft pick for the next 3 years, team falters, Carson Wentz debacle, everyone wants him fired. Has a couple amazing drafts, rebuilds team, everyone loves him again

Still can't believe some of the the moves this guy has made....getting a 1st and 3rd for Wentz, swindling the Saints to get their #1 this year, the surprise AJ Brown move on draft night

I used to pile on Howie quite a bit mostly because of the draft fails, it was easy to do so... and even as recent as a year or 2 ago because really, the Eagles were without a lot of young talent on both sides of the ball. Even the Sirianni hire looked more than a little questionable.

But after this offseason it's hard to really find an issue with what he's done. The FA acquisitions he's made and the trade with the Saints, totally changed the team. He did an amazing job and I have to give the guy credit.

Aaron Rodger was in no way a top 5 QB this year. Like, not close at all. He was 15th in QB rating, 15th in TD%, 20th in Comp%. 25th(!!) in Yards/Attempt.

Yeah this is the take but I’m wondering if it’s actually true. To be fair I thought this too. But I guess what do you do when you trade a bunch of picks, get the QB of the future, build around him, and then he falls apart maybe more so than any successful qb in recent memory. If Hurts doesn’t implode maybe he can sustain success

Good points. I think I’m giving credit to his intangibles and the fact that the packers have spent years not helping him at all. Put him on any of the other top teams on this list and I think he’s still elite.

Yes I know everyone needs weapons to be good but it’s almost like the packers do it on purpose

Frankly, Daniel Jones should be on this list. Over Dak. He had better stats with absolute shit for receivers.

Rodgers has had weapons, including the best WR in football for multiple years. Offense was never really the issue, but people love to point the lack of 1st round WR picks. Wouldn't have made much of a difference considering it was the defense and ST that consistently let the team down each post season.

Rodgers is a top 5 QB going into 2023, whether still in GB or with a "better" team. There's no question.

I think y'all are allowing Rodgers' legacy to influence these takes. He looked awful at times this season, his play style is catching up to him as father time wins the battle, and at times looked completely uniterested and unable to elevate anyone on his team.

That's not a top 5 QB right now or forward looking. He'll be 40 in December and the cracks are already showing.

I'd take age 46 season Tom Brady over age 40 season Aaron Rodgers next year.

it's not really a surprise Rodgers' lost a top 3 receiver in the game and looked the way he did.

He also doesn't do any work with his new guys in the offseason to get the chemistry going. That's his choice obviously, but he really doesn't seem interested in football these days. Those game checks are hard to walk away from though.

Yes, 100%. For argument's sake, I think you're allowing recency bias to influence your take.

We can just leave it as "agree to disagree" though. Nothing further to be said, really.

edit: assuming by legacy you mean past production.

I’m just saying there’s no way you can say he was a top 5 QB this year and there’s no reason to expect any better next year. He’s not getting younger, the team he’s on isn’t getting suddenly extremely talented around him, and any of the places he could land outside of Green Bay are in similar situations or in a rebuild.

Metcalf and Lockett are basically both number one receivers. Lockett would be the the lead receiver on most teams. No one on the giants comes close to either.
