Are you saying majority of those in Indonesia that looted and turned to violence after their tsunami are black?

what i am thinking was during katrina people robbed their neighbors. When a trial didnt go a communities way they literally destoryed their community.

Whereas in Japan they helped each other and arent looting...

One is full of japanese people.. the other lower class black people ...

Its also interesting to see how Koreatown was handeled during the La riots where they stuck together and refused to allow the criminals to loot their belongings

It's a cultural thing, not a racial thing. Japanese culture and religion overtly stresses a sense of community. While in America, we're taught to take care of ourselves first and foremost.

Much of New Orleans also stuck together to save neighborhoods, and much of the "looting" was people breaking into stores for food, water, and medical supplies.

So youre going to ignore my other examples of looting and violence that dont involve black people?

I think this is more of a "japanese vs every other culture" and not a "japanese vs black people" argument. Yet all you are doing is pointing out the instances that involved black people. Its typical of you, instead of seeing the bigger picture.

This is also apparent in your "NHL VS NBA" comment.

Well I didn't back read to understnad how this became a racial/ethnic debate.

On the subject of Nuclear Reactors....they are dangerous and deadly.

Nuclear waste lasts for ... "wiki" The time frame in question when dealing with radioactive waste ranges from 10,000 to 1,000,000 years,[33] according to studies based on the effect of estimated radiation doses.[34] Researchers suggest that forecasts of health detriment for such periods should be examined critically.[35] [36] Practical studies only consider up to 100 years as far as effective planning[37] and cost evaluations[38] are concerned. Long term behavior of radioactive wastes remains a subject for ongoing research projects.[39].

We don't know the long term effects. We store some nuclear waste in barrels. That is safe in the short term, but the radioactivity and hazards of the waste will long outlive the life of the container.

Hopefully we will rethink the "harmlessness" of nulcear power plants. It's scary the compared a nuclear meltdown a 8.8 Earthquake and Tsunami have nothing on the half life of unleashed nuclear waste.

Nuclear power is probably the safest form of energy beside that of solar/wind power on a day to day basis. But when Nuclear power plants go down they go down big. lives 15 miles from the only Nuke plant in CT and under 3 miles to about 20+ nuclear powered submarines.

Then theyre just as ignorant as you.

All youre doing is taking TWO instances and making a blanket comment.
When In fact Ive pointed out a bunch of other natural disasters that have occured that involved looting and violence that DONT INCLUDE BLACK PEOPLE!

Its not my fault that you are ignorant and racist. If you want to continue to deny it, oh well.

Its either that or youre just too dumb to see the bigger picture.

If there are 10 natural disasters, and 7 of them involved looting and violence, and 1 of them was in a predominately black area, you cant just take that particular event (Katrina disaster) and make blanket comments like you have been doing...by comparing the actions of the Japanese to just blacks. Ive shown that its not a race thing, and others have agreed, yet you continue to ignore it.

You then even go another step farther and try to imply that NBA fans are looter and criminals and NHL fans arent (based on ONE instance of ONE person saying that in Chicago they werent worried about it)....and that got shot down as well.

And someone else wanted to know how this became about race.....the answer is that Gocubs entered the thread, thats how.

Ive shown that its not a race thing, and others have agreed, yet you continue to ignore it.

actually i didnt even bring it up.. Someone else did and then it sparked my interest why we didnt see anyone looting like we did in katrina

    Re: Nuclear Reactors

I am looking at the faces of the people on this island and it's such a strange mix of emotions - Are we going to live, are we all going to die. There is no where to go - all I can do is help my fellow man, not play into the chaos and look for solutions not problems. Such a sense of helplessness. Will it happen again, another earthquake. Some of these men are strong, healthy and vibrant - but that won't get them anything if the island is contaminated with radiation or another major earthquake hits or even a tsunami.

As far as the cooling pools - I feel that if any issues with our electricity happen we are in a state of danger. I understand that there are back up generators but what happens if that doesn't buy us enough time. It's scary and I am feeling for these people -

I personally am a fan of cleaner burning fuel - the alternatives with solar and wind. It's unfortunate that we didn't understand the consequences more before tons of money went into building all these reactors. I don't like to play into the fear - I feel the media does it's fair share of this but man, it's hardly a solution when faced with disaster. I live between two reactors and I live in California - just because there haven't been many earthquakes of this magnitude in written history doesn't mean that they haven't existed for 1000 upon 1000 of years. It doesn't make me feel comfortable or safe - however I am glad that I have energy to live within my comfort zone.

I would also like to say that japan is the major forerunner in ocean slaughter - I find it ironic that the ocean slaughtered back as sad as it all really is.

Nice to know that it takes a fucking earthquake - the 4th biggest in recorded history - to suddenly make nuclear power unsafe.

If a power plant ever had a unicorn fly into it, it'd make em unsafe too.
Still true for American nuclear power.
