Official Chula Vista 2015 Thread

Looks like Chula will be the week after the Gorge, which makes it either the 11th or the 12th of Sept. It might be the weekend before but the last few years it has fallen after the Gorge run. Who's in?

I did Chula Vista last year for the first time and had a blast but will have to see the tour schedule first. It all comes down to $$$ of course.

Well, no Chula this year. Little shocked by this omission. Guess they gave the show to PHX instead.

Can't be too shocked - hasn't sold well for almost 10 years.

Having said that, as a result Irvine is going to be a quick sellout.

Re: Official Chula Vista 2015 Thread

The fact that the lawn doubles the size of the venue never helped with ticket sales. Plus the SDSU and college crowd are not really drawn to the band anymore, so that is a large chunk of the potential pool of show-goers. From the looks of this tour, the band and management is looking for new locations to play or getting back to places they have left off for a few years.

Bummer. With only one So Cal show, Irvine is going to be a tough ticket.

How was it finding tickets last year for Irvine? Before I moved, Irvine had been a tough ticket for the past few years.

What a bummer. The pit at chula is so nice and big. I'm not sure if they sold out this venue last year. The crowd here is so nice. When I volunteered at Irvine there were people giving us a hard time for our o...bama volunteer shirts. Chula is a grassroots venue. Sad to see the fellas choose to nix the "sweet view".

I might have to skip this years tour ~ anything other than sd includes a hotel and possibly air fair ~ too rich for my blood. Have fun everyone. Hope the new album is a good one.

    thumbs down.

I grew up going to Irvine meadows ~ the lawn there is very steep. I wish I enjoyed this venue. You really need a seat - the crowd wasn't very friendly in the past. The bubble effect. Hope they stream a show for the fans this tour.

I have a feeling they might add a night at Hollywood Bowl later on, a la 2012 when they were promoting AFTW. With a new album this year, that might also be why they nixed San Diego (along with the sparse crowd)

Also, count me in as one also bummed by this. Living in LA, I loved the excuse to party in San Diego for a night, and the venue is lovely. Irvine is fine, but just more generic, like the town itself.

I too was thinking that there might be a album release date added to the tour at the bowl. If I had to choose L.A. Over Irvine it would be L.A. (and I grew up in OC). The bowls crowd is fun, eclectic. I volunteered there and everyone was very gracious. A gentleman even landed me a Pit ticket for free!

Hopefully it will not be the middle of the week if they do add it. Such a hard time of year to take off for end of the quarter sales... Ho hum.

Didn't come close to selling out, barely sold half the tickets, that's why they aren't going back, $500,000 lost in unsold tickets

More than likely they will be back next year because Irvine is on it's last year. They're building houses there at the Irvine Meadows site.

That sucks. At Germain Amphitheater in Columbus the lot has sat empty since 2007, but now they are going to build a retail park there, with IKEA being the flagship store. Hooray for another shopping center!

Unfortunately for the band if they continue to play shows sometimes in cities and sometimes not they are going to lose their fan base for live shows in that city...

If you want to sell out - play a smaller venue then. Radiohead played embarcadero it was friggin amazing. Could they have sold out sleep train ~ hell yes. Did they choose to play a smaller, scenic venue instead ~ hell yes! change it up!

For the record - SD can accommodate with the biggest, largest pit. Get rid of irvine, sell out SD and add a show at the bowl or Greek in L.A.

Makes sense, but if they started doing that, mouthbreathers on here would say things like "See? Told you they'd be a nostalgia act in no time! Next stop, casino auditoriums"

Irvine Meadows will be open until Summer 2017. That's when their lease expires.

Did I mention many years ago this land was a safari park? You could drive your car through and check out all the animals. The safari park and Irvine Meadows. That was all that was on that hill and the fellas that raced bmx. I wanted to race bmx but my parents wouldn't let me.

...but that's neither here nor there.

they have too much of a neil young quality for that to every happen...

I like how neil young throws charity events with awesome artists, performs with some of them, and plays at the end - giving all the money to charity. that's a type of man's man.

I get it.... they are trying to appeal to the SD crowd and the LA crowd so they are meeting in the middle. It just seems crazy that with a population of over 22 million people in Southern California they are only doing one show. Seems like there is something missing here. I caved in and I'm cruising to the Irvine show. I am running a triathlon that day and it will be a perfect way to celebrate all the hard work.
