I don’t know how anyone can judge post from way back in March and April about this thing. Nobody knew a damn thing back then, and people were posting optimistically

Yeah of corse people were going to do their own thing eventually. Its such a surprise people are social creatures, and don’t want to stay under restrictions.

I came across the first article regarding the virus on December 31, 2019. The next day we cancelled our flights for DMB in Vegas, opting to drive if it wasn't altogether cancelled. Lucky for us it wasn't, but it was still nervewracking getting into elevators and being in the crowd. January and February were filled with warnings from leading scientists and pandemic experts saying exactly what was to come.

The whole "nobody could have known" excuse is insane and there is a big difference between being optimistic and being uninformed.

Even if these vaccines work, we wont see live concerts again in 2021.

I can’t see it either. MAYBE by fall, but I have literally zero hope for that. I like how Elton John took his whole 2020 North America tour and said “fuck it, just move it to 2022” without even considering 2021. The uncertainty of 2021 is too great. I just read The Rolling Stones insurance company want them to postpone their 2020 dates to 2022, due to the liability and uncertainty of 2021.

Meanwhile, Guns’n’Roses just announced a stadium tour today for Australia, to take place in November 2021. Seems kinda ballsy, but might be alright.

That’s because Tyler is a complete moron. I called him out in March in this thread for making ridiculous assumptions on this virus and he got defensive and said ‘I’m not the only one doing it’ - something teenager would say.

Now here he is saying ‘nobody knew a damn thing’ because he himself was in denial and unwilling to look at the evidence. Tyler is the type of person I do everything in my power to avoid in real life.

I don’t know why I logged into this forum today after taking a 3 month break. . Adios.

    I respect your opinion

Tyler is the only poster on this forum that makes my skin crawl. I’ve been around a while.... it’s not like I just go around insulting people.

Edit: wait, you’re the same dude that came to Tyler’s rescue last time him and I went at it. He’s a grown man..

I think the only thing people didn't know was how people were going to react and how the virus would become a political tool.

And I did fly to that Vegas show. It was definitely weird, but glad we were able to see DMB in 2020.

I made a wrong prediction back in march, and you are still mad about it in November a few weeks away from a vaccine. Let that sink in.

Maybe my comment will look end up looking like some from the first couple of pages, but I think in some form or fashion we will see concerts sometime in 2021. They may not look exactly the same as before, but there will be some (heck, there are already drive-in and socially distant shows happening right now).

You get the vaccine, you get to go to the show. Seems like a good plan to me.

Yea I get that there's some heavy doom and gloom in here, and rightfully so. But considering half the country would fight for any more restrictions, a vaccine is on its way, AND I just don't see an entire industry stopping for another year, I think we will see shows in 2021. Maybe not Q1-Q2, but in the back half of the year sure.

Probably not 25k at SPAC or Deer Creek.

Honestly though, I’ll take a handful of mid tier jam bands at open venues/limited capacity next year.

Obviously anything is better than nothing...but we are talking about DMB doing a normal(ish) summer tour. Will that happen? I have no idea but if I had to bet $100 right now on yes or no, I'd put it on no.

Done different things. Largest was Brad Paisley at the Titans stadium. It was a drive-in, I think there was 600 cars (up to 4 people per car).

Smallest has been some local bands playing in a limited capacity at a local amphitheater. But also saw Del McCoury Band there (around 250-300 people each show) and NMA there too (same size). This venue can hold 1200 people but was limited.

EDIT: actually smallest was a club in Nashville. Maybe 50 people. It was outside under a tent. They had flaps but they were 2-3 ft from touching the ground so there was still airflow. It was an odd setup (noisy area), but it was still an intimate and cool show.

Nice, not sure how I'd feel about a drive in show but it sounds like you enjoyed it.

    Do you live in Nashville?

Using Brad as an example, 600 cars at 4 people is less than half the seating at most venues.
Unless they cancel all tickets are start over DMB isn’t doing this.
No money to be made and the backlash would be worse than just cancelling period from people who had tickets and then got declined on resale

Locally the fee drove in shows they did here were more or less a bust for sales but the people who did go enjoyed it overall

I made a wrong prediction back in march, and you are still mad about it in November a few weeks away from a vaccine. Let that sink in.
Tyler, just to clarify - your ‘predictions’ back then were outbursts, not predictions.

Everyone was having a thoughtful and informed discussion about what this virus could mean (based on evidence we had at the time) for the tour and our lives, and you kept blurting out ‘see ya’ll in May’ and ‘it’ll be gone before the tour’.

I realize there’s no point in this discussion.

Tyler, like you, I am an uninformed idiot when it comes to most things. A life lesson I have for you is that sometimes it pays to just keep your mouth shut.

Re: Coronavirus and the 2020 DMB Summer Tour

UGH... so spring of 2020 we were supposed to go on a family vacation to Disney World. For obvious reasons, that fell through. We are now set to leave on June 14 and return the 22nd next summer. I just realized that if these currently scheduled DMB dates hold up, I won't be able to see Riverbend, Blossom, Deer Creek or Pine Knob, aka the closest shows to me!! I was looking to do BOTH Deer Creek's as well as Riverbend, my local venue.

So now I'm not sure what to do. Taking in both shows in Chicago would be the closest way for me to take in 2 shows. But I hear the Chicago venue sucks, and I have personally been to Chicago so many times over the years that I've basically done all the touristy shit and "seen it all". Thinking about SPAC, but I don't know if I'd even be able to get my wife to come that far, and leave the kids, for not 1 but 2 DMB concerts.

Ugh... my usual dilemma. Which shows to go to, and who to go with me? I used to have a line of friends that wanted to go to DMB shows... now I'm down to a few, but they'll be doing Riverbend and Deer Creek. Also considering Burgettstown, 2 days before we leave for Florida. Maybe I can get 1 of my DMB buddies to come there with me. Not opposed to going to a show by myself, but people would probably think I was a weirdo for doing that!

Edited to add: I still don't really believe these concerts will actually happen next summer. Possibly everything Gorge and after, if things are better by late summer. But 20,000 people in a venue in June? I can't see it. But if they do go ahead as planned, then I'm gonna have to get creative with which shows I attend.

Idk saying “see ya’ll in May” doesn’t really seem like an outburst. You calling me a moron like 7 months later isn’t slightly immature or an outburst? Common man don’t be hypocritical.

yeah I know. My post are pretty harmless for the most part though.

Can’t wait to get back to shows man. Like I’m seriously considering going to SPAC
either this tour or the next. Phish takes priority over dmb for me this summer. I don’t know how much I can travel with a new job that’s actually a career. Corona ruined my last summer as just a part time worker where I can travel whenever I want. Oh well. One day I plan on making a dmb weekend at SPAC.

Dude, those type of people are hypocrites. It’s in their nature.
