I wish I could listen to this within a minute from now, but DMBStream is gone.

Right? I mean if it's not on youtube, I don't know how I'll be able to hear it.

There is a place you can download this song, though. I just don't want to say it, because I'm afraid it will be taken down, lol.... sad face.

Yes, I did, because I created one of the earliest and the most successful twitter campaigns around here. Yours truly started the biggest twitter movement in Ants history - to get Spoon played in Cville, and sure enough it was played. I haven't participated in any twitter campaigns since.

If I remember, you weren't able to make it to that show, were you?

In 2010, it worked well for getting the band to play Spoon.

    Agreed...

It's literally been years since I've known where to change it/cared about my sig. I think it's lamer if people actually go in to update their signature regularly... My signature is meant to thank the ~1200 people who tweeted for Spoon back in the day.

Isn't it easier to make fun of men who type like preteen girls and capitalize every other letter? AbSoLuTeLy

in reference to the thread... there are a lot of boyd solos that have unfortunately disappeared. Recently, the intro to shotgun and LITHOD had lovely boyd melodies that are no more.

Thankfully AFTW seems to have boyd a bit more "in tune" now. And after reading the billboard article, there hopefully will be a ton of boyd on the new record.

    Of course not.

Nick is a troll. It seemed like he was gone for a while (what a breath of fresh air!) but is back to the typical douchbaggery.

Discussing the band at their creative peak does not seem to equal "typical douchebaggery" to me.

That being said, I'd love to hear that GiG. Love those early versions of the LWS songs.

Right, because pre-1994 was great when Dave sounded like a whiny preteen girl and the band played songs faster than they do now.

And don't forget, no LeRoi. Automatically, everything sucks. Doesn't matter what they do, whats songs they play. It sucks.

EDIT: Not directed towards you. Just jumping on your bandwagon

Nah, 1999 and 2000 were both great years as well. Consistency has not been quite as solid since though. They have sparks of greatness now as opposed to the continual progression IMO.

I was shitting on the 'golden era' DMB romantics idiots.

Did you see any of the '08, '10, '11, or '12 tours? Pure consistent greatness. So I'm not sure what your talking about.

Well, I am sure there are plenty of people who would shit on people who think an average show today is the same as back then. Call it golden era if you want but I believe the shows were better back then.

My intent is not to demean newer fans who weren't lucky enough to see the band back then but 1995-2000 was the best this band has been IMO. I have no doubt people who go to shows today enjoy them every bit as much as I did back then. I have seen shows in the past few years that were a lot of fun but they don't rivet me as much as a while back. Apples and oranges though for the most part.

Plus, it is not all about the live environment at all. The song quality of stuff written before Everyday was on average better than post everyday.

I still love the band and will see them when I can but I am just giving you one perspective. I have been lucky enough to see them a couple times a year or more since 1995 and IMO 1995-2000 was consistently better. Less pee break songs for me, less paying attention to the stage and more chatting, more songs I think are mediocre, and frankly more drunks.

Like I said, not being judgmental, just giving you my thoughts. During the time frame I mentioned there was usually a number of moments per show where I was genuinely floored and happy as hell. They don't happen nearly as often anymore. IN addition in that time frame I used to struggle to find a song to use as a pee break, now I know I only have to wait a song or two to find one I am just as happy hearing from a speaker.

Part of that has to do with you being younger back then, and the DMB concert experience being newer. I agree that shows back then were great, but not better, just different. There have been killer shows in recent years.

I also disagree with the idea songs were consistently better back then and dismiss it as a romantic notion. Dave can't be young again and write with that perspective that produced those songs you love. Part of the problem is your rigidness in your preferences.

But yes I agree, BTCS was a creative peak, but not the only one, or tallest one. I think its apples and oranges. I think it's objective to say that the band plays tighter and more powerful in 2010 than 1996. Part of what made those 90's shows great was an energy of youth and a band breaking out as the biggest in the world. Those things just can't happen again after.

the kid who did the twitter thing was completely out of control. and the kid is pretty narcasistic. you guys dont remember the thread, and people posting his million responses on twitter? ranks up there with the psycho that came on here saying he met the band at wpb, and then another guy came on here and said he recognized the kid, and the kid border-line stalked the band to the point where police got involved. there's a way to do things, and then there's psycho, and then writing blogs/doing video's about self promoting something you did. it happend, cool, but you arent the only one, and you wont be the last. this is why america is falling. /rant.

You may have just solved the mystery of why they started writing crappy songs... the fan base continues to age, and as such - we can't hold our pee as long. Dave was simply doing our bladders a favor!

Did you see any of the '08, '10, '11, or '12 tours? Pure consistent greatness. So I'm not sure what your talking about.
    cville was probably fun.

but why would i be mad or jealous for missing it? i dont hold 2010 DMB in the asme regard as say missing a show in 1998, which i have. 2010 sucks compared to those years. thats my opinion

    im not an idiot either.

you're just being dramatic. '98 was great, but they play a wider variety of songs now (they have more), the band is tighter and the singing is better than it's ever been. There have been plenty classic/essential DMB songs written after 2000. If dave never picked up the electric guitar at a show today I would be bored. There are no shows from the late 90's that crack the top 100 of longest DMB shows.

98 is great. but 2010 doesn't suck comparatively by any means. You were younger and had a better time then, it clouds your memory.
