Yeah, the parking situation at Irvine is rough. Here's how to do it right:
1. Get there right when the lot opens. Usually by 3 or 4. Come in off 405 and Irvine Center. Whatever you do, don't try to come in off the Bake Pkwy. exit. Ignore the signs. It's a trap. Especially if you're arriving right around showtime. You will miss the beginning of the show. You will be pissed. There will be no recourse.
2. As soon as you can once you get into the main lot, take a hard left and book it back towards the corner of the lot closest to the far exit onto Irvine Center (trust me, you'll thank me later).
3. Make sure you bring lawn chairs, shade, and solo cups for your booze. Irvine police patrol the lot but they won't fuck with you if you aren't acting like an asshole and if you have your drinks in cups with bottles and cans not visible. You'll want to drink up because inside they'll be selling beer for $16 a pop.
4. The people who park in this area are usually the ones who know what's up and you'll meet good folks.
5. Suck it up and know you'll have a long walk to your seats. Especially if you're in the lawn. Wear comfortable shoes for the hike. Ladies, skip the heels.
6. Enjoy the show. Afterward, make your way back to your car that you've wisely left right by the exit. Last year, I got out in less than 5 minutes. Don't follow my advice and you may wind up stuck there for an hour or two.
