One of the best of all fucking time. Desert island record right there.

See, I like Marquee Moon, but I really don't see it as one of the best records ever like others do. It has some killer tunes, but it just lacks that wow factor for me.

Noooooooooot a fan of fun. That album closer is the worst thing I've heard this year.

Just seems very noisy, so many extraneous buzzing textures and synth patterns everywhere. A few tracks early on that I enjoyed but it isn't particularly interesting start to finish.

I almost wish RYM had a zero star rating, I felt generous giving it even 1/2 star. As far as other terrible things this year, I'd list Keepaway's Black Flute, and Steve Aoki's Wonderland. But fun. is by far the worst offender of terrible music for 2012.

There were a couple points where I went "hey, that wasn't bad..." but then was immediately punched in the jejunum. Completely disjointed. We Were Young was the only saving grace, and it's just a really good chorus surrounded by mishmash.

Yeah...that chorus is totally not earned by the pedestrian and totally bland verses. Not to even get into the eye-roll-worthy lyrics in the chorus....

    Just...blech.

Also, I don't know if it's influenced by the fun. listen, but I'm not really digging the Rusko either. Not terrible, but very very meh.

Too late to edit, but So Long You Pretty Things to close the album is fantastic. Might be my song of the year so far.

Mind-blowing stuff.
Just briefly listened to an album of theirs on Spotify, and no offense, but it was pretty bad. It was an older album though, from 2003 I think.
