Re: Best Headphones

Bump for new recommendations. I need a new pair of on-ear headphones to use with a phone or iPad.

16 years in the pro audio industry and my favorite cans are still the Sony 7506. I bought my fist pair in 2003. They lasted 13 years of intense gigging and recording. Quickly bought a second pair. They are a steal at $99.

I also like the Sennheiser (can't remember the model number but their $100-120 range ones). Audio Technica makes some great cans too but I prefer their open ones versus the closed and I need the closed for live shows.

Have you compared them to any of the similarly priced headphones from Grado, AKG, Sennheiser, Audio Technica, etc?

I have a free pair coming with my new iPad. Apple is doing a back to school promotion until the end of the month to get a free pair with purchase.

Nice, let me know how they are. They look really nice and they sync with iphones seamlessly which is an added bonus.

Only negative thing Ive read about them is the strap is a little long... I love how they magnetize together around your neck though, thats convenient for me.

Headphones are definitely my weak suit! I don't enjoy having to use them, I much prefer loudspeakers.

There are several well informed posters here tho dispensing solid advice.

Id like some good in ear headphones that have phone controls, but I struggle to find ones that fit in my ear correctly. The ones that dont hook or have another piece that goes into my upper ear dont work for me.

    Any recos?

Anyone have Beats X? I got them free with my iPad and was trying them out today on my iPhone but they're like ALL treble. I dunno if it's the pair I have, or if I'm doing something wrong. I tried to adjust the EQ in settings (Music) but it isn't changing anything.

    That's odd.

That happened to me when I got those first Marshall updated headphones a few years back. I returned two pairs because I couldn't adjust it on my phone, still don't know what happened to this day.

These the in ear ones I'm assuming? How far in your ear are they? Sometimes if you don't get a good seal all the low end tends to filter out. Still seems odd though. Every pair of beats I've ever used tends to have over accentuated bass response. Have you tried another pair of headphones? Do they sound similar or better? If better, return the beats. Hell, return the beats and get something better regardless

Beats are some of the industries worst headphones.

Can anyone suggest a pair of Bluetooth buds with the neck strap around $100?

Those beats had good reviews everywhere I read that had hands on tests. I know they aren't the best but they looked functional,I'm not an audiophile.

In college for audio engineering? Best of luck. It's a tough business. Its a cool job though. Definitely not your 8-5 desk job.

    Re: Best Headphones

I am in search of some advice. Trying to decide between Beats X and Airpods.

Ive watched multiple videos comparing them but I cant seem to get much info about sound quality on the airpods.

Is the sound/bass similar to the iphone headphones that come with the 7, 7+ etc? If so I think im gonna lean toward being wire free. It seems more appealing the more I read and the iPhone headphones always fit well in my ears (assuming the airpods fit the same).

Can anyone with airpods or beats help me out? Im not an audiophile, but I still want half decent sound quality. I know the beats noise cancellation is vastly superior, but the normal iphone headphones are good enough for what I use headphones for.

Any help or advice here would be appreciated.

I think I'm ready to go wireless. I swear, I'm a walking over dramatic infomercial with the ones I have. If the wire can get caught on something, I guarantee I'll get it to happen.

I recently got the Jaybird X3's. The pairing to my phone was easy, the sound quality is there, good amount of bass for a wireless headphones, and I like the EQ within the app. The only thing though that I still struggle with a bit is comfort/being in my ear. There are quite a few choices of ear tips along with fins and I haven't found the right combination yet. If I'm just sitting around (at work) and listening, no issues but working out, they didn't stay in my ear as well. I'm still tinkering with that combination.
