He hasn't signed, obviously, but if he signs the supermax it is a five-year deal.

I'm not sure Harden turning down a $100 million extension and trying to force his way to a superteam is a great look for the league.

i mean, sure, but this is akin to no star wanting to play for New York. ownership is everything. in this case it’s a much worse look for Houston and the man running them than it is the league.

but yes, we do have a super team problem but it was much worse a few years ago than it is now

I really hope the Rockets tell Harden to suck it up and play. Fuck him going to the Nets. That's almost KD to the Warriors weak. Not quite that bad but damn close.

If he does make it there who the hell handles the ball?

What could the league work into the CBA to make players want to stay? Just money clearly doesn't work. What else could the offer players to avoid super teams if that is something the league wants.

I mean you're not wrong but I don't think they need to rush it or take a shit return to appease him.

Also they didn't say that like at all. They offered him $50M a year. That is nowhere close to "go fuck yourself"

David Griffin slamming his hand down on the "reboot" button. Love it for both sides. Milwaukee has to go all in on Giannis and NOLA should be in no rush.

i’m talking about the post you quoted. appease the guy and get a return, or tell him to go fuck himself then no one wants to play for you

Option D: admit you're cash poor, try to blow the whole thing up and reboot it entirely like OKC did last year.

I do think Harden plays this year or at least starts in Houston. I can't imagine what Brooklyn could offer that would be enough for Houston.

step in the right direction for them. it’s kind of an Antetokuonmpo situation. if you want to keep Lillard and McCollum, better lean into giving up assets for win-now players.

if they’re smart they’d flip Nurkic into something good. if they’re super duper smart they’d flip McCollum into something great

yeah. i’d be surprised if this moves the needle at all for Antetokuonmpo internally. Holiday is like....okay. that’s the haul you’d expect Harden or at least Paul to get with

i don’t see how Holiday would MacGyver you out of that Miami series

for max value, yup. for a decent return it’s now or never, so probably never. McCollum is just so....meh...against the cream of the crop

I don't really even care about the picks, bug it's Jrue Holiday. Minor upgrade from Bledsoe at best.

I only see three scenarios: Horst is dumb, Bledsoe was a cancer and awful fit or Giannis wanted Holiday.

If anything, is it addition by subtraction just by getting Bledsoe out the door?

I never heard a peep about Bledsoe being a bad locker room guy in Milwaukee.

I would be shocked if Giannis wasn't consulted in regards to this move. If it's what he wanted and it gets him to sign the supermax, whatever, I'm cool with that even though we know GM Giannis is a bad GM (see All Star Games).

But they had to have consulted him. It has been widely speculated for like a month that they weren't pursuing CP3 because Giannis didn't want to play with him. And Mannix basically confirmed that earlier today.
