I wish Dave would loathe Cornbread.

to me it is the american idol thing, not because he sounds like dave. which i honestly have no idea whether he does or doesn't because, as far as i know, i have never heard anything by him.

PP does not like Home. he said its not his style of music and not something he would write himself. AI pretty much forced the song upon him, which leads to questioning how much of this album is actually PP and how much of it is just what they told him to do. it is not an integrity issue. its someone not liking a song that someone else wrote but they are forced to perform. if anything, i'd say him saying he doesn't like it gives him some integrity. he's not just going to kiss up to everybody and everything and pretend he likes something he doesn't.

So he's making money off of a song he hates and that he's "forced" to perform.

looking forward to this...his covers are all pretty solid. His mannerisms are similar to Dave's but I still think he comes off as genuine. If I performed on stage I would probably adopt some of Dave's mannerisms because he is the artist I watch perform the most. Give the kid a break, his song Home is better than anything else on the radio and I'm sure his album will be better than any pop shit. I've read the record will have some blues vibes.

the winner of AI is signed to a contract that basically gives AI the right to make the winner do whatever they wish with little to no say from the person who will be performing. they really don't have any other option. they signed a deal at the start of the show saying that if they win, they agree to AI's record deal, which includes that AI tour, at least 1 album, and all these promotional things they have to do.

many people believe that its better to actually come in 2nd or 3rd on AI because you still get the publicity of being in the finale but you're not obligated to any record deal, so you're free to do whatever you want with whoever you want for your first album. the only thing the runners up are required to do is go on the tour.

once the AI contract is up, PP could make an album that sounds like whatever he wants. but this first one will be heavily influenced by the heads of AI and their partners.

Great thanks for the AI tutorial. I do not like that show and the "musicians" it churns out. So the fact that he's contractually obligated to make (a shit ton of) money off of music he doesn't even like is pretty much the worst thing I've ever heard.

definitely interested to see how this sounds. like many have alluded to, it will depend on how much ai influence there is vs. how much freedom he had as an artist.

"Away From The World From The Dark Side of the Moon"

PP heard Lillywhite asked DMB to reach their "inner Floyd".

This. There is TONS of great music out there, whatever genre you like. You just can't rely on Top 40 radio and Rolling Stone to force feed it to you.

I don't know that he said he "hates" Home as much as he just said it's not really him. Last interview I saw said something to the effect that there's going to be some songs like Home on the album, and others that are more acoustic rock with the horns and stuff. Which, I'm guessing, essentially amounts to a compromise between him and the label.

Still think the hate for the guy is goofy, but maybe if I was as invested in DMB as I was 3-4 years ago, it would elicit more of a reaction from me. I don't know.

This doesn't make much sense to me. I couldn't let it ride. You are saying Big whiskey is unique and poignant if you're a hardcore fan because you know what groogrux means, has it occurred to you that this guys album title might mean something to his fans? Maybe it is from one of the songs on the album? And no I am not the P squared.

    But carry on

Reading comprehension fail. I never said there's no good music out there... Just that there's a lot of shitty music on pop radio these days. And it's refreshing to see someone like PP get a chance to (hopefully) alter that landscape a little in favor of 'good music.'

Phllip is the man. He's crazy talented and will be pretty successful imo. I'll always be a fan of his. I can't wait till he reaches out and makes his own shit and not have to worry with the AI BS.

Just proud to be from the same hometown and know the guy. It's awesome.

One of the worst songs I've ever heard in my entire life. I can't believe Dave Matthews wrote that song. Jesus.

You never specified anything. It clearly seemed you meant a majority of music.
