Quick, edit the OP to read, "The moment everyone on here except for UNC41 has been waiting for...".

    What a horrible album title.

zomg he's channeling his inner-Dave Matthews, since there are parts on AFtW that sound like Pink Floyd!!! Combining DMB and Pink Floyd. How pathetic.

People complain that mainstream music sucks and that DMB never gets a fair shake. Then someone comes along that has a ton of DMB DNA, becomes very successful, and everyone hates him.

It's one thing to be influenced by an artist's sound. It's entirely different to imitate that artist directly, copying everything down to the way he holds his guitar, the way he moves onstage, and the facial expressions.

I mean, I don't know a darn thing about this guy. I don't want American Idol, the first time I ever saw him was when I was watching that live broadcast of the 'One World' thing from Syracuse a couple weeks ago. I saw him play and I was utterly dumbfounded at how much he copies Dave's mannerisms and facial tics. It's comical.

having heard a couple original songs he performed during interviews, i'll say he's got some potential to be pretty good. the couple i heard, i liked. not loved, but liked. they were not in your face overly pop songs that you would expect from AI. they're not even like Home, they're better than that. Home is to Everyday as the others i heard are to UTTAD, relatively speaking of course.

i do look forward to hearing this album, and i hope it is good.

Phillip Phillips has publicly said that he hates Home. It was the song American Idol wrote for him.

Re: Phillip Phillips DEBUT ALBUM "The World From The Side Of The Moon"

Isn't/wasn't this guy an ant before he became an Idol winner? I don't watch the show, so I actually couldn't say what he sounds like. The press likes the Dave comparison, but asking the mainstream press to talk intelligently about music is a bit too much to ask. Still, if he's an ant, there's probably a bit of imitation in his sound. As far as what this will sound like, I hope he gets a bit more freedom in the studio than most of the winners have. What's not often said when someone wins Idol is that part of the prize is being signed to Simon Cowell's management firm, and Simon serves as EP on most of his artists' recordings, so he's got first say on what music they sing, what musicians are in the studio, and what producers are behind the board. I've never heard whether this guy actually writes his own songs, but most Idol winners are glorified karaoke singers, so they don't have a lot of input into the material they get to work with.

Apparently he has a bunch of original material... Excited to hear it on the new album! People need to give this guy a break... Yes he's a Dave clone in a lot of ways. But with so much awful music being released these days, let's support someone who's talented and similar to our idol.

The video above is the P^2 version of D+T it's actually really good though!
