I don't know that I feel the exact opposite about This Is the Last Time — bottom 10 might be pushing it — but it is far from one of my favorites.

been avoiding this thread to avoid setlist spoilers, couple thoughts on the new album after about 15 listens

-day i die is an all time great for this band.
-lyrically, there's still a lot of abstract imagery in matt's stuff. matt has lost a little of his quirkiness and has gone more literal (which is still beautiful), but he's still capable of it as seen in "i'll still destroy you" which is one of the highlights of the album
-dark side of the gym is beautiful. matt is underrated as one of the most romantic songwriters in rock.
-haven't been too impressed by the guitar work on this album. doesn't necessarily take away from it because the electronic elements are still interesting, but it definitely sounds less Dessner
-a little more filler than usual. HV and TWFM had only 2 fillers for me. this one has 4 that i don't necessarily see being in heavy shuffle rotation in the future- empire line, sleep well beast, born to beg, walk it back
-speaking of walk it back, it may be in my bottom 5 ever post self-titled
-i think this is a step below the "big 4", i would put it in Sad Songs territory which is very good company

Gun to my head, that's where I'd rank the tracks today. Still a lot of fluctuation. I expect the bottom two to be pretty static though.

Agree with all of you guys in that "Walk it Back" is a total snoozer. Other than that, another fine release from them. Really bummed I couldn't catch them when they came to Detroit but I'm assuming I'll get them when they return from Europe and surely play another leg.
