Re: Formula 1 Discussion

Only COVID-19 or an act of God are going to stop Lewis from matching Schumacher for titles and surpassing him in wins this season.

So I have been looking at stats a lot this week and my friend suggested I post them to YouTube, so that is what I did. Take a look if interested. Not going to link it by my channel is now named Greg Allen F1. I love looking at stats like that.

Bummer that F1 will not race in the Americas this year. Had to happen though.

Insane finish with all of the tire wear issues. Hamilton lucky to walk away with that win. Verstappen shouldn't have pitted.

Awesome end to a GP yesterday.

    Top stories I am following:

-Softer compounds might be cancelled for this weekend as a result of the issues from yesterday
-Will Hulk be in the Racing Point again this weekend? Also, will we hear any news of Seb possibly being announced?
-Can Alex Albon get a good result and have a solid weekend. I would really like to see him get a top 3 finally
-Will Ferrari powered cars look any better. Leclerc over performed to get that podium

Most weeks F2 is way more exciting than F1. Not this week. Thrilled for Pierre Gasly.

Hamilton ties Schumacher for all-time wins.

But more importantly, Ricciardo is back on the podium!

This was pretty damn cool. Crazy how it seemed like he was committing career suicide by leaving Mclaren not too long ago.

Insane. Never thought I'd see someone surpass Schumacher. I feel confident saying that about Hamilton now. No signs of slowing down. He'll easily eclipse triple digit wins.

Yes, he is crazy good. Bottas had every chance to win that race but could not preserve his tires as well as Lewis. Bonkers.

Some pretty interesting rumors going around F1 recently. As always, I talk about them on my F1 YouTube Channel, but I would love to know what you guys think here.

    - Russell losing his ride next year? Rumors are about that he could be replaced by Checo next year at Williams. I think this would be a terrible move.

    - Gasly to Renault. I think it is too early to move on from Ocon, but wouldn't it be great to see Gasly have more control over his career now. Red Bull clearly are not going to give him his proper chance (bunch of idiots). I would love to see Gasly go to Renault and win races there for them.

    - Mick Schumacher and another rookie to take over both seats at Haas F1 in 2021. What a cool story that would be.

Horrible crash on lap 1 of the Bahrain race just now, Romain Grosjean walks away, in ambulance, amazing, car straight into fence, split in two and burst into fire.

I’m genuinely curious as to what happened to the car. The reported g-forces are actually relatively low. Not an apples to apples comparison because an Indycar is an absolutely tank of a race car, but Hinch’s crash at Indy was 125 Gs, and the car stayed together. Same for Bourdais, Askew, and Pigot.

My buddy works for Stewart Hass and says either the only two explanations that make sense are that the crash was so hard it broke the accelerometers, the Armco sliced the car in half when it did a 180, or both.

Crazy that there is a chance last week was Hamilton’s last race. I know everyone is saying the right things, but until the deal is done there is a chance it doesn’t get done.

Has anyone in here watched the F1 Netflix series? Thinking of taking a dive into it here soon. They discussed it and F1 in general on Friday's Ryen Russillo podcast. I watched Monaco a few years ago and loved how quick the race was. Hour and a half, maybe? I'm intrigued by F1, despite never really being a racing guy.

Senna, Rush, and Ford v Ferrari all are flicks I loved that pique my racing interest.

Drive to Survive is great for fans and newcomers alike. And the older you get, the earlier you tend to wake up on Sunday mornings anyway so watching an F1 race is a great way to pass the time.

My only disappointment this year is that Monaco doesn't fall on Memorial Day weekend so we won't get to properly celebrate the greatest day on the racing calendar. With it falling a week earlier though, that means it coincides with NASCAR's first trip to COTA (Austin). I can't complain about consecutive weekends of racing intrigue.
