So we have new next door neighbors. My side and back yard are completely enclosed with a 5 foot tall black aluminum fence. My German Shepherd, Kylo, cannot get out of that fence. The side of the fence that is between our yard and our new neighbors is about 2 feet on our property. The new neighbors have 2 pit bulls. One is a young puppy and the other is an adult female. The adult has on 3 occasions been outside off leash and tried to get into our back yard by squeezing through the slats of the fence. She can get her head and shoulders through. Obviously this sets off my German Shepherd and he then goes into protection mode and a dog fight is on. After it happened the second time, I thought they had learned their lesson and they had been bringing her out on a leash. Today, their teenage daughter opened the door and let the dog out while my wife was playing with Kylo in the yard. The dog made a bee line for our fence and tried to get in. I heard Kylo barking and knew exactly what was happening. Our yard is big and it took my wife and I a few minutes to get a hold of Kylo and get him in the house. Eventually the mother came out and was able to get a hold of their dog once Kylo was inside and the female pit was no longer trying to get in. She tried to apologize but I told her this was the third time and apologies are meaningless at this point. My wife called the police and I believe they gave them a citation for having the dog off leash.

Not a great situation especially when it’s your next door neighbor. Not that it’s on you but anyway to put a barrier to keep the dog from squeezing through?

Sorry about the new neighbors Noles. I don't get people like this. You know what your dog is like, just keep them on a leash or at least a tether if you don't want to stay outside with them. I think you did the right thing. Hopefully they get the idea that it's not ok to just let the dog out. I'm lucky that is not an issue in my neighborhood. I'm not exaggerating when I say that almost every house has at least one dog. Everyone is great about keeping their dogs on leash or fenced in.

Hope this doesn't impact you being able to leave the house to golf!

Got a fantastic update from the oncologist on our Pumpkin this week… before we started her lymphoma treatment, a mass on her spleen was also discovered (likely lymphoma-related) that has completely disappeared! I was not expecting that all… especially since she’s only half way through her treatment.

I am considering getting the green wire fencing in this link and zip tie it to my existing fence, but I am hoping that the citation is enough to get them to control their dog.

I have that type of fencing around an area for my dogs. They respect it… but there’s areas they could easily push under it if they wanted to. I’m not sure it would hold back what sounds like a very motivated pitty.

Hopefully you can get this all sorted out… and who knows, maybe your dogs can become buds! (my dream world is for all dogs to be best buds)

There is already a 5 foot tall black aluminum fence. I would just atach this to it with zip ties to prevent the dog from squeezing through the slats.

Been watching the sister in laws dalmation pup. Only about 4 months old and has an infinite amount of energy. It’s a lot but I love having a dog in the house again so the chaos is welcomed.

Unfortunately, it happened again today. My neighbors are complete assholes. My fence is literally bent from this dog trying to squeeze in. We have made it a point not to take Kylo out if they have their dog outside. We had not seen it outside off of a leash in a few days anyway. Of course, my wife didn't see the dog and she let Kylo out. Before you know it they are at the fence at each other. The pit had a hold of Kylo's muzzle. My wife pushed Kylo into the dog so it wouldn't tear. The dog let go when its owner grabbed it. Kylo is ok. The neighbor blamed us. He said we did it on purpose. I guess he thinks we want our dog getting attacked by a pit bull. There was a very heated conversation once the dogs were secured. He doesn't seem to grasp the fact that the fence is 2 feet on to our property so when his dog comes to the fence, it is on our property. After it was clear that we would not agree on things, I said that the police will sort it out. The grandmother then accused me of weaponizing the police because we are white and they are black. The same officer came and a second officer arrived as well. As far as I know they were cited again for an off leash dog. Hopefully I can modify the fence enough to keep their dog out. I'm starting that tomorrow. Clearly we will never have a civil relationship with them as neighbors.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. I have had a situation with a neighbor at my last apartment too. This couple decided they hate dogs (except their own of course). They called in noise complaints against me and their downstairs neighbor over-and-over again even though my dogs never barked outside of normal hours. The Collie was an 10 week old puppy and they literally yelled at it/us outside because he approached them. They gave us dirty looks for like 6 months until about a month ago. The guy took his unfriendly dog to a dog park at night. We entered with our doodle and collie and after they calmed down, let them loose (the dog park is an off leash park). He immediately started to yell at us to recall our dogs. Our dogs didn't even approach his dog until he started yelling at us. Regardless we did and put them back on leash. He then turned to us and said "it is f*cking annoying, train your dogs." I absolutely lost it on him at that point. Went off and call him and "a$$hole" and told him off to his face that the entire apartment building hates him and his B*tch girlfriend because of how unfriendly they are. We then proceeded to tell him only a moron brings a dog who is afraid of other dogs to an FN dog park. He got nasty back and said something else and at that point I literally challenged him and he instantly backed down and scurried away like a mouse. I never get physical or look for a fight, but if you come at my dogs when you are the moron, I will absolutely fight you. He saw that in my eyes that I was ready and totally ran away like the coward he is. He avoided me every day after that until I moved away.

At my new place, one of the girls I met here told us that there was an Indian guy who lived above the dog park and used to come down once a day and scream at her to shut her dog up because he was very important was working. She pointed out he lived above a dog park and he claimed it was "not meant for dogs" despite all of the dog park signs! He than called her all sorts of names and said "go ahead, call the police as a white woman on the brown guy." So apparently playing the race card/police card in the new go-to for some idiots. Luckily he moved away before I got here. I would laugh so hard while dialing 911 if someone who was starting a conflict with me tried to guilt me about calling the police.

On a more positive note, both of my boy are at the groomer today! The Collie is getting his first grooming day ever. We comb both dogs almost daily, but a good bath and cleaning is needed!

If he was truly Indian (from India), I don’t think I’d be able to contain my laughter long enough to respond. Every single person I talk to in India (which is multiple times a day) has dogs barking, kids crying, various other background noises. It’s constant.

My new puppy is going for the first time tomorrow. She's 4 1/2 months. I've given her a couple baths at home but its tough and i never get her totally clean before she's climbing out. So this is much needed.

My 65 pounder gets a bath every 3-4 weeks. He's great while in the tub, before and after is a problem. He's a stinky boy though, so he doesn't have a choice!

I have a goldendoodle and a bernedoodle and the bernedoodle is a therapy dog. The goldendoodle Belle gets too excited around nursing home patients but the bernedoodle keeps it cool all the time. Zoey is black and white and is the bernedoodle and we got her a lot cheaper because she did not have much brown on her. She was the best in the litter and favorite of the Amish. Zoey is awesome around everyone and the Amish gave her her name. Amish are tough and real and my belt is Amish. All of my belts are Amish in fact. Belle just has to be petted constantly and turns around in circles to constantly get petted. Belle has such a pure heart but sometimes gets jealous. Zoey is just so cool all the time
