After almost a dozen different appointments, I was able to get perscribed medication for my ADHD this morning. Brighter days are ahead.

Really? It was huge in New Jersey where I grew up. Living in Boston definitely made it better, but I already loved that movie way before moving there. I also love the story of how it was unknown until blockbuster got the rights and it was one of the most successful films from renting in history (made $50million in rentals alone).

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about it?

Realized that one of the wife and I’s friends’ wedding is this weekend. After attending 7 or 8 funerals over past year, very happy to be celebrating some life.

First day on the meds and it is already making a pretty sizeable difference in terms of tuning out conversations and distractions around me.

    We're getting there...

    That's great!

At the risk of not having shared this with anyone other than my wife... I spoke to a psychologist for the first time last week -- I've just had some more anxiety lately than ever before. It was good talking to her, and it was explained how they can't prescribe certain controlled substances in that medium, but I was given a low dosage hydroxyzine that I could try whenever stressful situations arise.

I haven't taken any of it yet though. Just booking the appointment made me feel a little better. Then days before it, I got some kind of an update/news on something that's maybe been subconsciously stressing me out a bit. I think that helped. Then I was out of town at a friend's bachelor party and I really felt like being away and unplugged for a couple days was good for me. Then the appointment itself/talking to someone, plus getting something I could take also felt like it helped a lot, without actually needing to take the meds.

So on one hand that's all been kinda nice. On the other hand, I almost want to have an excuse to try the medication to see how it works, how it affects me, etc kind of a conundrum

I'm glad things are turning for you! the fact that you know you have access to something if you need it should something stressful arise is calming in itself.

Well if nothing else it sounds like you've filled up your proverbial toolbox between the appointments and the meds on standby if you need them. I have a friend who is in the same boat where he doesn't need any daily meds, but he has an "as needed" supply of anxiety meds. Usually takes them before big family gatherings where he has bad social anxiety that leads him to hitting the bottle more than he should in that setting.

Sometimes just talking it out with an unbiased third party and having a plan is all you need to get to a better place.

I'll go to my primary doctor if I have to, but that alone stresses me out partly because I have to commute into Atlanta. Very easy to make a phone or video call appointment that I can do from anwhere. Helps that it's free too (provided through work).

I found out I'm getting a 10% bonus on Monday. I need a new phone, so timing is great. Samsung is going to give me more in trade-in value for my 3 year old s20 than I'll have to pay for a new s23, so that's pretty sweet.

I'm always amazed at how productive I can be with a single day off work and no real plans. So much more than a weekend day when the wife and kids are home too.

I cooked up a giant brisket for Passover we're hosting Saturday, took my car and bicycle to a diy car wash, rode my bike downtown for an iced coffee, a few yard related chores, Lowe's run, planted a few new lilies, and mulched a couple areas. Feels good man. My legs don't feel so good though man.

I drove 6 hours roundtrip to go to Canada to buy my favo(u)rite candy not available in America. It's weird we can't get real Smarties, Crunchies, Coffee Crisp, wine gums, ketchup chips, etc down here. At least not where I live.

Beautiful crisp day, sunshine, cruising mountain roads, my old cds from the 90s, the motherland, and top tier candy.
