Summer 2023 Tour Rumors Thread

With the 2022 Summer in the books, and the 2022 Fall rumors thread ending and a tour resulting, I'm going to kick off this one for next summer, as rumors are already starting to come in.

First up, via anonymous, apparently stadiums are being considered for Summer 2023.

Re: Summer 2023 Tour Rumors Thread

Someone has to help me out with the idea of stadiums. They aren't currently selling out most of the amphitheaters that they are playing. Why would they suddenly be able to fill up stadiums? Unless they believe they have the next Crash Into Me sitting in a vault and they are about to unleash it upon the masses in February of 2023 just as tickets go on sale.

Minor league maybe? They played our minor league baseball stadium here in 2009, which has a capacity of just 7300.

Fenway seats ~ 38k, not sure what it would go up to for a concert but considering Mansfield is around 20k, and Hartford is 30k, I would think a return to Fenway would not be out of the question.

I dont think they'll have any problem selling tickets to Fenway. People go to Fenway for more than just the act on the the stage or horrible baseball product.

I like the Mansfield venue, but its a pain to get to from Boston and obviously a nightmare to leave.

No no no God no. Spent parts of my summers in Marlborough Mass with my grandparents. Keep the shows at Mansfield. Ballpark shows are stupid if there is any decent amphitheater nearby.

Also of note they messed up any shot to get concerts because of a construction fail :

https://www.fieldofschemes.com/categ...triple-a-team/

According to “Ballpark Project Fast Facts,” a document posted to the city’s website in summer 2018 that has since been removed, Polar Park “will” host “at least” 125 events per year, including 68 baseball games, “large-scale” events/concerts, road races, collegiate/high school sporting events, fireworks and other community events.

With the second season of the WooSox now finished, there has yet to be a single “large-scale” concert at the park, as originally promised…

“Polar Park replicated Fenway Park to some degree. And in Fenway Park, the only way to get to the center of the park is through a rolled-up doorway at center field that you can drive a vehicle into but, unfortunately, that is only 12 feet high, and large trucks that carry concert production are always 13 feet high or so,” [Worcester Tercentennial Celebration Committee technical consultant Jon] Rosbrook said. “So, consequently, at Fenway Park, all the big equipment stays outside on Lansdowne Street and is either lifted by crane over the Green Monster onto the field, or small pieces can be put onto smaller trucks that can be pulled through that doorway and then unloaded closer to the stage.”

It could work if they plan on playing significantly less shows overall and/or have some big time opening acts.

That doesn't fill stadiums across the country. If anything it would help the declining gorge numbers and lawn ticket sales across the country. It would also be awesome to have the caravan type idea (on a smaller volume of act scale) in the Amphitheater's.

I always thought the Gorge was the best Caravan setup because they just did it in the actual venue with elevation instead of a flat field.

If they were to have a special BTCS tour + Guests I would be cooler to do it at SPAC, Camden, Deer Creek WPB and any other major 2 night stand weekend. Then mid week shows perhaps keep it just DMB.

Many of the larger Amps on tour have 18 to 35K anyways so doing it at a ballpark or half empty football stadium with 30K doesn't make it worth it because you're adding 10K more people who really have seats miles away from the stage.

Could be some minor league parks which would be ok.

I have noticed quite a few empty seats at some venues this year - VA Beach, for example.

Re: Summer 2023 Tour Rumors Thread

WPB had such a huge patch of empty space on the lawn. I heard under 10k people total night two. No way on stadiums. And to hell with the acoustics and gap between the infield seats and stage. I really hope stadiums don't happen.

Yeah that's probably the main reason honestly. Every show I've been to this year seems to be filled really well. One of the best selling years from my perspective

I don't think I've seen them at a proper "stadium"

In 2009, I saw them at our minor league baseball "stadium"

Seeing them at the United Center in 2012 I count as somewhat "stadium" since the Blackhawks play there

But I'd love a Wrigley or Busch Stadium show, as a huge baseball fan I'd travel for either one of those

Yeah same here, minor league stadium in Des Moines 2009. Wrigley would be great, and I wouldn’t mind a show at Citizen’s Bank here in Philly. Could be fun! The good news about the fall tour is by the time it’s over, we’ll be gearing up for ‘23 dates already.

My first show was 5/26/99 at Giants Stadium. It'd be interesting if they do that again (now it's MetLife Stadium, and has a slightly higher capacity).

But hey, if they're considering minor league, I have one right in town...

They should reconsider. Unless they want to make it a mini caravan with like 3 or so supporting acts then sign me up

Unless they get some big opening acts, I just don't see them headlining stadiums anymore unfortunately.
