Live at Folsom Field = One of the Best Releases

In my opinion.

Now, I'm biased, cause it was the first I owned back in the early 2000's.
But-- I think this release holds up.
It's a solid show, and has some real highlights.

I know I'll get flamed for it, but Angel from this show is a favorite for me.
Love those lovely ladies.

    It’s a good show I’ll say that.

The release cannot be top notch because the editing is some of the worst of all time.

They should re release this with proper editing lol

Listener supported is probably the best DVD release for sure

If someone with no frame of reference of what DMB does (or use to do) besides for the radio hits, I’m recommending they try RR95, LS, LiC, and Central Park to see if they even like this band before I mention Folsom Field.

But it’s a fun little release for us hardcores.

I like your list-- and I'll agree with those.
    RR95 is way up there.

And yeah, LS is the best DVD out there for sure.

My whole thread is falling apart, but I just have such fond memories of playing the Folsom show until the CD skipped, and then getting a second copy.
It's what hooked me on DMB. Dave saying "Boulder..." in that sing song voice. Like it was about to go down.

Then i got into those others that were mentioned.

I don't think I'd call it one of their "best releases" but it's a good representation of 2001. I enjoy the JTR, So Right, Bartender, Ditch, and Two Step from this show.

Meh. It would be better if they had left in Fonz's Watchtower intro and the Porch Song tease, and hired a real video editor instead of the crack-addicted monkey that kept hitting switcher buttons at random.

If you haven't heard it yet, you should listen to Live Trax 31. It's a good collection of songs from that same tour. I think it's better than Folsom Field, although it's missing a few of the ED songs I like, such as So Right, I Did It & IIHIA.

As for Angel... it's a pretty crappy song, but I do like the groove. I know the Ladies get a lot of shit for it, but I don't mind the 14 minute soul-fest they bring to the party. "I've got what you want, I've got what you want, I've got what you need!"

The mix on LT31 is one of the best mixes in the entire LT series. That DDTW from the release is what we call fire.

The DVD could be the worst thing the band has ever released because of the editing.

Very bad DVD. Sound quality is one of the worst.

Love DDTW, Bartender, JTR, and Recently from this show but the rest of the songs are forgettable. The Two Step version is boring!

Yeah the dvd is fine when it’s full screen. Some nice angles. When it goes the those 3 little screens it’s truly terrible.

I think so right maybe full screen for the whole song. That’s how the whole dvd should have been and it would have been a pretty good dvd

    So right

It definitely has it’s moments but I’m not a huge fan of the mix. I feel like Dave’s guitar is buried in the back in some songs. Also, as others have stated the DVD is hard to watch. Overall, I enjoy listening to it every once in a while.

Underrated Warehouse on Folsom. Still having a bit of fun with the stop time intro and LeRoi is great on it.

I need to pull this DVD out this weekend, I haven't watched it probably since 2004ish.

As for the audio release, I wouldn't call it one of the best releases, but it's a solid show and as someone else noted, a good representation of 2001. I don't need a 14 minute Angel, but the Bartender on this release is FIRE.

I am always fond of this release. First experienced it through the bonus dvd released with busted stuff. The cd found it’s way into the car shortly before this thread popped up, funny how that works. Always thought Dave said bonin(as in boning without the g, idk) but I guess boulder makes more sense

Visually, it's terribly edited, mix is so-so. Performances are solid but there's also a 15 minute Angel with the Lovely Ladies, one of the worst things the band has ever done.

Listener Supported and Central Park are the top two IMO. LS in particular has some incredible performances from Roi. His stuff on the heartbeat intro is the best he ever sounded.

    Couple things:

    totally agree with your username.

Also, flame away, but I love that version of Angel. Really dig it.

Folsom is my number 3 live release, why I say it's one of the best, not THE best.
    1. RR 95
    2. Listener Supported
    3. Folsom Field
    4. Live Trax 7

    i'll stop ranking there...

I hate to be that guy, but I always found the mix on this release to be abysmal. I listened to it off and on the year following it's release, and that was pretty much it. It was just one of those shows that I never got excited about, and I really never came back to it. I remember there being a lot of hot girls in the crowd on the DVD though!

It has pretty much sat on my shelf for the last 18 years. I may possibly have put it in one night when I was drunk with friends watching DMB related stuff, but that's about it.

And Listener Supported is a pristine DMB release. The mix is as perfect as the song selection. I would pay good money for a blu-ray HD remaster of that show. Never really looked in to what it was shot on though, but it is likely a standard definition source. The 4x3 aspect ratio is unfortunately a bit annoying 20 years later.

The fact that this is the only Live Release with "I Did It" is just one example of how out of touch this band is with their fans!

All jokes aside, I was actually at that show haha. I don't follow the Live Trax stuff all that closely so I didn't realize it had been released.

Weird show to say the least with Too Much bookending the setlist... with the lil' jon outro. Oh for it to be 2004 again.

Happy 19th anniversary to Live at Folsom Field. My second show ever and a pretty solid show. Poured rain for hours right up to the start of the show.

Sucks that the DVD is so hard to watch. Would love to get a simplified edit of this show, it’s a solid ‘01 example.
